Leonard Signing 1500 copies
Leonard Signing 1500 copies
Just heard from Indigo that the signed copy number of Book of Longings was to be 1500 and as of this morning they had sold 1010. I re-ordered as I had cancelled when Jarkko was misinformed that the 1000 copies had been reserved during the first 24 hours. I hope there are no more mix-ups. I hope everybody who wants one gets one and Leonard does not get tired of writing his name.
Reading their e-mail again I see this deal has not been finally approved yet.

I don't think it's a big deal to sign your name to promote sales. A lot of celebrities consider it a small price to pay to keep their fans happy and their royalties rolling in.
I do lots of handwriting every day for clients in my job. It wouldn't bother me to write my name 1500 times if I got a percentage of the money I gain for clients.
Lizzy, maybe you could hand over a copy to our friends from Holland in person in Berlin ?

I hadn't even thought of that, but you're absolutely right, Margaret. That would be a good time for hand delivering a special gift like that.
As one who used to do tons of writing every day, akin to what you're talking about, Margaret, I also feel it's not unreasonable... and that, in some fashion, Leonard may enjoy that he's able to do this. Writer's cramp, for sure... but spread out over two months, it seems do-able. If I wrote a book and there were 1,000-1,500 people wanting to buy it, I'd be happy to sign that many copies, too.
