Leonard Signing 1500 copies

Post by lightning »

Just heard from Indigo that the signed copy number of Book of Longings was to be 1500 and as of this morning they had sold 1010. I re-ordered as I had cancelled when Jarkko was misinformed that the 1000 copies had been reserved during the first 24 hours. I hope there are no more mix-ups. I hope everybody who wants one gets one and Leonard does not get tired of writing his name.
Reading their e-mail again I see this deal has not been finally approved yet.

Willy and Wijbe ~

Why don't you request one and have it sent in your name to my address, which you already have. I'll then send it on to you.

Everyone who orders one of these signed copies should also sign their own name 1500 times and send it to LC.

Even though it does seem a lot... because it is a lot... it seems that Leonard must at some level in agreement with it. I don't think this is about a signature stamp. If he starts now...

That's funny Kush.
It's kind of like what they made kids do in school, write the same thing on a blackboard over and over as a punishment. Maybe it's a punishment for being famous. ("Fame is a curse"--the Talmud.)
It's a lot easier to sign your name than to write a book of poems, tho'.

Now, there's an understatement :D .

I'm guessing this may be at the heart of why this two-months-prior ordering is taking place.

I don't think it's a big deal to sign your name to promote sales. A lot of celebrities consider it a small price to pay to keep their fans happy and their royalties rolling in.

I do lots of handwriting every day for clients in my job. It wouldn't bother me to write my name 1500 times if I got a percentage of the money I gain for clients.

Lizzy, maybe you could hand over a copy to our friends from Holland in person in Berlin ?

I hadn't even thought of that, but you're absolutely right, Margaret. That would be a good time for hand delivering a special gift like that.

As one who used to do tons of writing every day, akin to what you're talking about, Margaret, I also feel it's not unreasonable... and that, in some fashion, Leonard may enjoy that he's able to do this. Writer's cramp, for sure... but spread out over two months, it seems do-able. If I wrote a book and there were 1,000-1,500 people wanting to buy it, I'd be happy to sign that many copies, too.

From the website of Indigo:
We ship to the following countries:

United States (excluding: Alaska, Hawaii, U.S. protectorates, APO/FPO addresses if not in the continental United States).
Australia
Belgium
Bermuda
Denmark
Finland
France
Germany
Greece
Ireland
Israel
Italy
Japan
Mexico
New Zealand
Norway
South Africa
Sweden
Switzerland
United Kingdom
That explains why Wijbe's order from Holland was rejected.

So, how it goes?
The first 1500 persons that pre-order from Indigo get
a copy signed by Leonard?
