Hi Dick,

It's only four stops (or five if we have to go to Chalk Farm) and one change on the tube from Camden to Barbican tube. Padma said she will print out maps for everyone. We only have the Green Note until 4pm I see, so I'm sure we'll arrive in plenty of time at the Barbican; enough time to have a good look round before the Talk. Enough time even to check out the Seduced: Art and Sex from Antiquity to Now exhibition that will be running at the time, but I think you might have to pre-book tickets http://www.barbican.org.uk/

Diane - I've just checked on the Transport For London Website and I don't think there'll be any services to the Barbican Tube station that Saturday (on the Metropolitan, Circle or Hammersmith&City Lines). The best bet would be continuing on the Northern line to whichever is closest out of Angel, Old Street or Moorgate, I think - haven't looked on a real map to see which is most convenient for the Barbican

OK, thanks Tim. Actually that's a simpler journey - no changes. On the Barbican website map Moorgate tube stn looks as close as Barbican. Sorted.

Tea and Oranges at the GreenNote.........

The journey is fairly straightforward from the GreenNote to the Barbican. If we cannot get on the train at Camden Town (because it gets really busy at the weekends and sometimes London Transport will only let people alight at the station) then we can walk to Chalk Farm. It will take a good 20 minutes because of the crowds but it's an interesting walk.....past the canal and market where you will have an opportunity to buy your souvenirs, mushrooms (for breakfast) and herbs.... From Chalk Farm it's direct to Moorgate on the city branch of the Northern line. The walk from Moorgate is fairly straightforward and (I believe clearly signposted). You have nothing to worry/panic about because I will print off maps and there should be quite a few people who are familiar with the city to lead you! Harry is going to try and find a pub/restaurant for after the Glass concert tomorrow - (the Travelodge is the back-up - just how big are the rooms?) - but I am hopeful that we will sort something out by this w/e....but if anyone has a suggestion, please let us know.

The GreenNote is a few minutes walk from Camden Town station. Please note that Camden Town is the UNDERGROUND station NOT the train station. Come out of the underground station on the Camden Market side and walk up Parkway (which is opposite) and the GreenNote cafe is on the right (if I recall correctly).

We are still looking for people who would like to strum a few tunes or recite a few lines of poetry ....and I understand that the winner of the Poetry Competition will be announced by Mickey dressed in work attire (the wig, ball gown and whatever other articles of women's clothing that he can lay his hands on).

Harry and Paul will bring the guitars....The numbers are hitting 60 + at the moment - which is pretty amazing because when Diane and I first talked about it - we were thinking of an absolute maximum of 20!! It should a really good day and I think we're all looking forward to getting together again and meeting some new faces..

If people are around on the Sunday, there is talk of getting together for a walk/lunch/drink in town......

Thanks for calming the panic, Padma. In my manual of statistics it says that a percentage of LC fans don't make it to events, for various reasons, so I hope I don't make you panic, if we extend an invitation to any latecomers, such as those who have only recently secured tickets. Please let us know if there is anyone else who can join our little gathering. Did I say little?

Damellon, I presume you are in this thread due to the fact you have now decided to attend, what with your being Poet Launderette of the forum .

The cafe is charging us £100.00 for hire of the venue.

Padma and Diane are paying/have paid this amount to the Cafe. May I suggest that every meetup participant pays 2 £ when turning up, so that we can cover the costs!

Also, with just four hours available for our meetup, let's all arrive in good time around noon!
