Philip Glass/Book of Longing Meetup in London 20/10/07

Post by Padma »

As some of you are probably already aware, Diane and I are in the process of trying to find a venue for an informal meetup during the day before the Glass concert and pre-concert talk at 6 o'clock. I am talking to the Green Note cafe in Camden Town to see if we can use their venue. We need to get an idea of numbers (because the cafe is not very big). If you are planning to join us, please can you pm either Diane or myself. We are hoping to have the event from 12 noon until about 4-ish. It would be great if the Green Note agree to let us use their premises because it's only a fewstops on the underground to the Baribican and it's round the corner from Camden Lock (very busy, vibrant and trendy market).

The Green Note cafe is a small music venue with bar and food.

I am sorry I can't join you for the tea party cause I am at Upton Park by that time. But I would be happy to join you for some longdrinks after the show. I heard there's no more closing time.

Padma we got Dick, Linda and Sherry twice. (They are that good!)

Henning, how do you spell 'poisoned' in German?

poisoned = vergiftet

Thank you Osmachar. I was making a reference to Henning's spelling mistake 8) . But that will be useful because we do intend to have the menu printed in various European languages. Are you coming to the Glass event?

Won't make it to London in October I'm afraid.

But it makes me wonder what 'poisoned' item you'll have on the menu.... 8)

Wow...what a great group getting together for the London gig! Have a marvelous time, and...Pete, perhaps the offer of some Ovaltine, instead of tea, might induce LC to stop by?!

I'm green I tell you...green with envy....now to my green tea.

Have fun everyone.

Think that Padma counted Linda and I twice cause she knows we need to lose weight and will take up extra room.....

Don't include Sherry in that however!

Thanks for the good wishes. Dar, pity you can't nip over to join us. I recall meeting you in Berlin. I only spoke with you for two minutes, but I remember you well: You told me you lived deep in the desert and I almost dropped my drink. How fantastic!

Shame you can't come, Oschamar. Dick, no, it was not to do with weight. There's a song about you three - so good they named you twice...all the scandal and the vice. We know all about it.

Leonard if you join us you can have a cup of anything you wish. We promise.

See everyone later,

Diane, off on holiday.

Diane, your doing a great job in putting this together. I can see you are in perfect shape to organise the Leonard Cohen Long Weekend Walking Tour in Autumn 2008. But I had faith in you already before. I didn't get this thing with "poisened". What exactly is it about ?

You had better check your dates.

There isn't a game at Upton Park on the 20th.

West Ham play Sunderland at Upton Park on Sunday the 21st.

Of course you could always abandon the idea of going to the Glass concert and travel up to Liverpool on the Saturday for the local derby match between Liverpool and Everton.

However thinking about it that well maybe too much of a learning curve for a Borussia Dortmund fan.

So it looks like you may well have to join us on Saturday afternoon after all.
