Many Cohenites coming from abroad (like Eija & me) have booked rooms at Vegas Hotel - it has only two stars but a very central location (Warwick Way, Victoria) and reasonable prices (60 £ for twin room), http://www.vegashotel.co.uk
It's not near the meetup location but many tourist attractions are close - convenient for those who have taken some extra days!

Heather! Is that Heather whom I met in Berlin :D ? This just gets better all the time. We shall end up hiring the Albert Hall at this rate. Somebody did have one spare ticket. Margaret's in touch, I think. Margaret?

Sorry Heather, and Diane

I was contacted earlier and the ticket has now been claimed for one of our regular Cohen Eventers. I hope another spare ticket becomes available for you.

I have received several emails from our Event regulars who plan to come to London - even without a ticket to the show.
They did not read the Forum to find out about Barbican early enough; some others thought that the tickets were selling
so slowly that they will have time to decide in September (I guess the news that Leonard will be there in person created
the sudden blockbuster.)

Private ticket agents in London usually buy a bunch of tickets to all shows, and then they sell them for double or triple
price at their ticket booths. Has anyone checked these for Barbican tickets?

Looks like some plan to go first to Cardiff to see the show there [without Leonard], and then they come (back) to London
for the meetup. Has anybody checked the availability of the Cardiff tickets?

Padma & friends, would you please post an updated list of meetup participants. I have the feeling that we have a
number of Cohenites who have tickets to Barbican but don't know about our gathering (because they don't visit this Forum).
I will let them know about our plan if they are not yet listed.

Dolores wants to send her heartfelt thanks to Laurie for her generosity and Margaret for help in getting the very last ticket to Barbican.

Padma has the full list, including persons who have not been mentioned in this thread, but, it seems, not including some people who have contacted you, Jarkko. Padma? (I believe there is a limit of 70 persons for the room she has booked at the Green Note Cafe. If our number is likely to be much more than that, we might have a challenge on our hands...)

Still plenty of tickets available for the Millenium Centre, Cardiff, for Wed 17th and Thur 18th October: (Leonard is not appearing in Cardiff, as far as we know):

http://www.wmc.org.uk/index.cfm?alias=philipglass

I see there is a pre show talk on Thursday, but not Wednesday.

Rob, John (the shorts) and I have tickets for the Wednesday. If anyone else wants to meet up for a chat after the show on the Wednesday, let me know.

Thanks for the hotel info- looks like I shall be staying at the Travelodge also. I thought i could travel up and down in a day- but no: the trains stop running back to my home at 9.30. :? And they wonder why we don't use public transport.

The Tea Party will take place at:
The Green Note Cafe,
106 Parkway, London NW1 7AN.
Tel 020 7485 9899.
http://www.greennote.co.uk.

On October 20th, from mid-day until 4 pm-ish.

The pre-event talk at the Barbican is "Leonard Cohen in conversation with Philip Glass" and starts at 6pm.

I'm sorry for the delay in posting details of the pre-Glass meet-up. I've booked the Green Note Cafe in Camden Town from mid-day until 4pm. The Green Note Cafe is a 3-5 minute walk from Camden Town tube (Northern LIne). I have a feeling that you can get off at Camden Town tube station at the weekends but you cannot board from there because Camden Town market is very busy at the weekends. If this is the case, we can walk from the Green Note via the market to Chalk Farm tube station (about 10-15 minutes walk). From either Camden Town tube station or Chalk Farm, you need to get the Northern Line (city branch) to Moorgate and the Barbican is approximately a 5 minute walk. I will print off some maps and distribute them on the day giving directions from Moorgate to the Barbican.

There will be a bar in the cafe and I am discussing whether they can provide a chef. Harry and I will bring a guitar or two - unless someone else wants to bring their own. The cafe is charging us £100.00 for hire of the venue. I am happy to pay this up front but we will be passing the hat round on the day!! Dig deep!! At the moment, it looks like there are going to be about 50 to 60 people, so we are only talking about a small contribution from each person. However, if numbers look like they are going to exceed 60, we may be forced to look for another venue. When Diane and I talked about a get together initially, we envisaged 10-20 people! The response has been great and we still have plenty of time to look elsewhere if the need arises.

I still haven't found a venue for after the Glass concert. I'm looking for some ideas from the Londoners here!! Somewhere close to the Barbican - a pub or restaurant.

I am sorry this is such a wordy posting but I hope I've included everything. If anyone would like my, Harry's or Diane's mobile number to keep in touch on the day, pm either myself or Diane (Diane - I have taken the liberty of including you on this, hope you don't mind).

Finally, Henning assures me that if there is a choice between football or tea and oranges with his friends - there is no contest. I have the guitar ready Henning........the strings have been changed, the song sheets have been packed.......

Look forward to seeing everyone again, soon!
Diane

We are still within the 60 limit, even adding Jarkko's extras. Great. The Green Note looks like the perfect venue. Padma, without you we would be wandering the streets of London like lost souls.

Suggestions please. I know that part of London is quiet at the weekend, but we don't want to all end up back at the Travelodge. Imagine the cloud of steam after making sixty cups of coffee from the one kettle in Ken's room.

Nice to see you are still coming along, Mylitta.
