Probably the best I can do that day is be a teacher or be someone that listens. The one thing I like to instill in young people is how powerful poetry is before they find out that I'm crazier than an outhouse rat........

Just think. On Mount Rainer, 3pm you stop your riding and walking and clasp your hands together. 10 minutes is all it will take. You will be partaking in something bigger than yourself. Wholism. At that time you will be at One with others. Not by watching satellite television, but simply by clasping your hands together. Talk to yourself, to the mountain. Sunday, the 10th of September at 3pm.

Cool bananas

Boss :D
What better place than a mountain? :) Think of Moses...
And many other prophets, too...

PG Wodehouse is one of my passions :D Well Spike ? He was a Brilliant, mad genius, inventor, poet, actor and making Peter Sellers laugh to the point of having a heart attack.
PGW story just came to mind that I like, "The Amazing Hat Mystery". :D

The Pacific nw here has had its share of cults and many that reached notoriety and being a member has about the same status as being a car salesman.

Hug a small tree so your hands can grip together on the other side!! The Hari's won't mind a bit. If there are any around they might join in!!
Personally, just sitting there with your hands in your lap sounds less difficult to me, but you're in control
Take care Switz, you too Fljots. Will you be holding a hand on the 10th? I know, 'You're too pushy'. Well they do call me Boss!

Not unless my oldest daughter visits. If I show her this thread she will probably think it's an excellent idea.

She's the really flaky person in my family. I'm only semi-flaky and the rest are not flaky at all!

Not meaning flaky as an insult, btw. :)

Oh, Spike Milligan is a British institution! Even though he was a total nut-case. Or because he was a total nut-case?

My favourite PGW character was Psmith. Jeeves & Wooster, Blandings, et al - yes, love 'em - but I love Psmith best. Not enough Psmith books, imo.

I've been a goon show fan since 1970 when the university of Washington radio station used to play the show every sunday night at 9pm for a few years. Since then when ever I meet someone with an english accent I'll throw out a goon line to see if its a part of their make up. Its amazing how their faces light up to a smile to remember those radio days. Some really fun conversations and met and made instant friends this way. This past year I met a London cabby who used to drive Spike around and knew him very well and had some fun stories to tell. Also I met a retired english teacher and fencing instructor who still teaches part time at Lakeside high school, a Chris Weaver who knows Leonard Cohen. About six months ago he brought by a friend of Marianne's who was in Seattle to see a doctor. I can't remember her name but she was very tall (a Viking as Chris calls her) and very nice. She had lived on Hydra in the 60's and had a child about the same age as Marianne's. We talked briefly about Leonard and Marianne, about Hydra, the poverty then, greek government, earthquakes, insurance problem.
Fljotsdale when you say Spike is a British institution .....I feel you hit the nail on the head. :D 8)

Oh, yes! Our whole family listened - never missed it for anything! My brother and I used to try to imitate the voices of the characters. Mom and dad did too. I liked Bluebottle best. I wouldn't dare try out the voice these days, though! My grandchildren would think I was nuts!

You have met some very interesting people! I've never met anyone remotely attached to anyone famous.

Shall I be jealous? Nah!

I've only heard odd excerpts since, not the whole series *sigh*.

I should probably look out for them on Disc.
