Kali Mera, Kyria Grinning Soul,
I finished your novel: loved it! It had me snorting with laughter on the train-- there I was, just one more allotmenty, cardigany born-again virgin, whose "...chin’s decided it would rather be part of [her] neck”, trying to work out " '...if sex is a bodily function or an arbitrary add-on? You know? Is it the central heating or the conservatory of life?’"

Your skill in the selection and blending of detail, in a less-is-more kind of way, matches your heroine's skill at harmonizing, so it {barely} shows that you haven't been to Hydra!

I really wish you were able to go there this year with the rest of us khaki-shorts-vs-kaftan types...I would really like to meet you and have a proper gossip over a Mythos or a mastichia....

Are you on Facebook? I have a multitude of pictures of Hydra there...

Cheer for job well-done!
Efharisto,
Anne

Oh wow, that's fantastic, Anne. A million thank yous. So glad you enjoyed it.

And really really pleased that I passed the Hydra test. I would so LOVE to go there this June. There's still a few months to go and who knows. I haven't been able to travel anywhere for years now. Struggling as a writer whilst my partner had cancer, he survived that but for several years has had terrible depression and is unable to look after himself. We have a child so I can't do the tough love thing and just leave... anyway it's complicated, I'm still trying to get him treatment, he's too poorly to help himself but not bad enough that the doctors will help. One of those STUCK things that has to unstick eventually. Fingers crossed it'll be soon. Yes am on FB under my author name. Looking forward to those photos. x

Tremendous selection of lines, Anne [WELL DONE, LGS!!!]... they do more than just pique interest!

Perhaps, I'll be able to figure out how to do the Internet book thing and read it myself... much prefer a hold-in-the-hands type book, but it seems this is a coming thing and the only option for this one.

Thanks Lizzy.

There's a free kindle reader download for Macs and PCs, or you can read on your phone (not the best option I know). Links for the downloads are at bottom of novel intro page here http://blackbirdebooks.com/?page_id=1137. :)

Well, I don't have a MAC and I don't have a phone [other than land line ;-) ], so I guess my option might be my PC... so, this weekend, I'll give it a whirl. Sure looks like a trip worth taking. Thanks for the link. Anne is a discerning one, so I trust her endorsement... but, even if I'd had only those lines to go by, it would have been enough.

Glad you're interested in Done & Dusted but sorry there's no hard copy yet. :? Before I got a Kindle for my birthday, I read whole novels on my iPod touch so I'd say that or BlackBerry/Google Android, they all have free Kindle app downloads.

No Apple... No Blueberry... if I can get Google/Android via my own PC, I'll just have to go with that.
I'm so non-plussed by these new electronic reads.

I'm about 1/4 way through it. The scene at the "Willie Shop" made me laugh out loud!

The willie shop scene was responsible for some of my embarrassing snorts on the train..
