New Novel Set On Hydra

Hi,

I'm a big Leonard Cohen fan, new to this forum. I'm posting to tell you about my new novel, a romantic comedy set on the island of Hydra. It's present-day Hydra, but my main character, Sally, falls in love with a Leonard Cohen tribute artist and my imaginings (not least of the main man) are from the beautiful images and essences of that time. It's an ebook called Ten Good Reasons To Lie About Your Age, available from Amazon Kindle stores or http://www.blackbirdebooks.com. I've never actually been to Hydra and am wondering if it shows?

There's a certain, 'indescribable' something about Hydra that requires you to visit to understand. It should be interesting to see how you do, never having been there.

Have you met any Leonard Cohen tribute artists?

Lizzy, thanks - name is my character's nick name as it happens! She's an old rock chick like her inventor. NO! never met any tribute artists - are there any? Any famous ones like Bootleg Beatles for Beatles? Are there any on Hydra?? I wonder. I just imagined the Main Man and was away... I'm loving some of the photos of Hydra on here, just posted the donkey ride ones on FB and FB friend commented 'why wasn't I on Hydra in the 60s?' Quite.

Certainly am John. I was a south London teenager in the 70s and saw 30 of the Ziggy Stardust shows Next best thing to just happening to be living on Hydra in 1960.Thanks for your good wishes.

I was nineteen in 1970, living in Streatham, and saw a lot of key Bowie gigs...John Peel Show (when he played "Queen Bitch"), Imperial College, two Rainbow Theatre shows with Roxy Music, Croydon Greyhound, and last Ziggy gig at Hammersmith Odeon. Not as many as you, but I have seen every Leonard UK tour from 1970 - 2009 (22 concerts in total). All good things, John E

Whoo. 22 concerts v impressive. Croydon Greyhound every Sunday was amazing wasn't it. Highlight was him giving us a lift home in his blue jag from his first Greyhound gig, still in blue quilted stage costume with us sitting on Spiders' laps. People don't believe me now but he just pulled up (we were at all the gigs so he did know who we were) & said I can take you to Penge girls. Except Penge was in the wrong direction we weren't saying that, he dropped us off and we got a cab back to south Croydon Missed the last ever gig at Hammersmith though & have only seen Leonard Cohen once, but what a gig, Albert Hall 1994.

.. gee.. between that and the racy cover, I can see why you'd choose Hydra as the setting, and how it fits in with the whole Leonard Cohen "oevre".. along with Jacqueline Susann, I mean.

Keith James, UK based and playing London in May, hurrah. Thanks Hydriot. A serious singer/songwriter worth checking out. But the hunt continues for the definitive 'act with the hat'. Who is Henning?
