there are really someyoung LC fans around- i'm 24 - and i wonder how you got to know his music? perhaps for some ofyou it was like me, that your parents listened to it? that's why i began to listen to it, the songs were connected with so many feelings that only children can feel that deep. listening i could recall these feelings. now of course it's different, the music& words have answered a lot of my questions while growing up and have formed my imagination, values and perceptions. what about your experiences?

I was the stereotypical LC beginner: I never heard of him until someday an old friend of my father came over and we played some music together... and then he played suzanne... it was just a magical experience. then he showed me LCs picking and I basically played this song for a half year every day.. and gradually I got to know more and more songs and later picked up his poetry...
I tell you its a hard school to start one's interest in poetry with Cohens poems... a german boy who never really liked poetry by any author gets his hand on "stranger music"
from then on I got to like other poets too, but everything started with stranger music... I think my version of stranger music is the most-read version ever
this book follows me everywhere I go (almost like the "luggage" in Tery pratchets books
)
when I was still in school, this book was on my knees under the worktable

I'm a younf Cohen fan too, only 22. I first heard Cohen on the radio in a car. I then found that my mother had 2 of his albums tucked away and I listened to them constantly. I keep thinking what would have happened if I hadn't been in that car at that time and if that radio station hadn't been tuned in ... that was when I was sixteen and now six years on my love for him just keeps growing.
My brother got a tape off a girl he used to go out with. It was greates hits and I never really listened to it. I just heard it being played. Then I got a hold of it and started listening to it.. then I just fell in love with it. It took quite a while for me to realise it. When I got some more albums (just recently) I realised that he is just amazing. I'm still on my quest to get more albums. I only have a few. I can't wait. I'd love to see him live some day. I'd say it would be a great experience.
