Hi!

Post by cormie »

My name is Cormac, I'm 19 years old and I'm from Ireland. I have only been listening to Cohen for about a year or so but I feel he is slowly becoming my favourite artist. I only have Greatest Hits, The essential, songs of, 10 new songs, songs of hope and the future. I must get more asap. I've never really met anyone (my age) who likes Cohen, I dream of meeting a "Suzanne" some day. Maybe it will never happen though. So is leonard not touring at all any more? I hope I get to see him perform some day. I just hope if he announces a European date that I will be able to afford and have the option to go and see him.

Hey Cormac,
I am a younger Leonard Cohen fan as well, I am twenty-one. It is great that you Cohen and you some of his best albums. I suggest getting "New Skin For The Old Ceremony" as your next album. Right now I am in New York City following the convention this past weekend. It was great and I met some other younger Cohen fans here. You are not alone, believe me. Leonard Cohen has no plans to perform and has not performed since his tour from "The Future" album over ten years ago.
Anyways, enjoy the message board and welcome. May the music of Cohen continue to move you.

10 years since tour? He certainly is a rare talent. I saw Joan Baez a few months ago, it was a brilliant concert and the audience were really up for it even though 95% were 50+ years old.

I don't really know allot about Cohen himself.

Was he actually in the war?
Where was he born? Where did he grow up? What upbringing did he have?

Hi Cormie, I just got back from the New York event today , Awesome!!!!! Although I found out there that awesome is now outdated, the new word is EXCELLENTO!

If you want to know more about Mr Cohen go to the front page of the website by clicking on the link above http://www.leonardcohenfiles.com and then you will see a list of headings on the left side of the screen. You could gradually work your way through all of them, but I suggest looking at Biography first.

Welcome to the Forum, Cormac :D ~

Yes, Margaret is right ~ and we have it on good authority ~ that "awesome" is out [old habits will die hard with me  ], and "Excellento" is [apparently] in. However, I've always said, "Excellente" [the ending sound being "lahntay!"]. Makes no difference in this case, however, as all apply to the New York Event :) !

I'm glad you've found your way here, Cormac! You'll love Leonard's 'personal' and professional history.

 Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii  , Paula   !!! [Tee-Hee] ~
:D Hi :D Margaret :D !!!

Lizzy,

It was definitely a great decision to attend the covnention. What I loved the most about it was that it appealed to Cohen fans of all ages. During the weekend Jason and I were in awe of the performers (especially Richard McGraw, haahaha :D , Suzanne Holland, and Zachary Oberzan, he did "Don't Go Home with Your Hard-On").
Also, it was great to meet you and all the other wonderful people I met during the weekend. There are so many memories looming in my head, especially Sunday night!
Ah, pictures, writing, music, and memories all surround me at this time. As I sip on this Jack & Coke in the comfort of my room I remember one of the best weekends of my life.

glad you enjoyed the weekend Sean, it was wonderful to meet everyone. I can't wait to pick up my photos tomorrow. Meantime I will take a look at your website!

I just played Richard McGraw's cd today, it's good isn't it!

I'd also recommend that you buy Zachary's if you haven't already. I bought his "Songs of straw and gold" Excellento! Check out his website at http://www.zacharyoberzan.com

I bought Zach's CD definitely. He was amazing and was very kind. I talked to him a couple times on Sunday. He was very gracious and humble. I want to get his other CD with the Ameila Earhart song on it sometime. Even though his other CD is split with three other artists, I wish to get it.

-Sean :D

I started putting some pictures up... Finally!

Hi Sean ~

You're just absolutely adorable... hehe... such wonderful, contagious enthusiasm like yours is rare. Thanks for your great post to the Forum - glad to hear that you enjoyed all the Saturday and Sunday performers. I will have the privilege of hearing Zack again this weekend when he plays at Acoustic Coffee in Portland, just a few blocks from where I live - he said he would play something special for me, and I wonder what it will be! Anyway, gonna go to the Greek Festival first, pig out on authentic homemade Greek food, dance in the streets, then on to the coffee house.. should be a great afternoon/evening!

Well, I'm off to go have a look at the pictures on your website.

Bobbie,

Thanks for the compliments... :) I had a couple Red Needles tonight that Jason and I made ourselves, hahaha , they were good!
You are lucky to see Zack again. He was awesome!
It took me forever to get the pictures to work on my website. Luckily, I have a great girlfriend who let me upload the pictures to her website and link them from there. Yay for a great girlfriend!
Hahaha... I listened to Songs of Love and Hate today! Listening to Cohen's music and reading his words are entirely different now after the convention. This is so nice... So, so, so, nice!
