Sandra, I would recommend you the beautiful music of BRIAN ENO, especially his "ambient" series. My favorites are "Ambient 1: Music for Airports" and "Ambient 4: On land". "Apollo" and "Discreet Music" are very good too. Relaxing music.

Hi Sandra ~

Already mentioned in another thread, but worth mentioning again ~ "Silk Road" by Kitaro. Any by George Winston [solo piano]. All very worthwhile :D .

As well as various classical favourites, I also enjoy the Budha Bar compilations which you can find in the World Music section. These are I think from dj's playlists at a Paris disco called the Budha Bar. They include a variety of middle-eastern, Indian, and European music.

At the moment I really like the instrumental stuff by Santana from the late sixties.

Yes, Glyn, Santana's music has aged well, hasn't it :D ?

Lizzy,

I don't remember mentioning Budhha Bar earlier, but it's possible. There are a few compilations. I have 4 of them and some sound very eastern, like rhythmic harem or belly dancing music. :) Others have a very meditation/zen type relaxing sound. 8) And some tracks sound like opera or flamenco!

No! I remember now....... and how fitting [for other reasons] ~ it was playing, as I was meandering through a store I love called The Gypsy Palace. I asked the owner ~ a very gypsy-like woman ~ 'who' it was and she explained it all. For a minute, before that came to me, I was thinking, "Well, it must have been Lightning then."

Anouar Brahem - 'le pas du chat noir' is wonderful. It's quite soothing. I like also Astor Piazzola if you are into tango, but you have probably heard of him a bit where you are?

Thanks to others for the flashback re Kitaro!! :D I had completely forgotten. :(

Time to sort through the CD shelves.
