"I was born like this, I had no choice,
I was born with the gift of a golden voice"
And those who don't listen to him say he doesn't have a sense of humour!
For me, I am disappointed that Cohen's voice has deteriorated so much since "I'm Your Man". While his current work is well worth collecting, they are now more like poetry spoken to a musical backing.
Having said that, there is a wonderful clip on Youtube of him taking part in a recent street concert in Canada (I think) really belting out 'So Long Marianne' just like in the old days. I suppose he just can't sustain it any more.
I daresay there are many who love his voice at the moment and while I still love the words, I'm ashamed to say that I really like a tune I can whistle!

Paula, you wunderkind! Actually, it was just a turn of phrase - I can't whistle a tune very well! I can hear a tune perfectly in my head, but when I try to get it out something gets lost in the translation between my brain and either the pursed lips or the vocal cords. You might even say 'between the snowman and the rain...'
