Most Uplifting Song
Most Uplifting Song
What Leonard Cohen song do you find to be most uplifting?
"Don't Go Home With Your Hard-On"
........maybe because it sounds dirty
His music is not necessarily uplifting
It is rather deep very deep
He makes me look inside
I can listen to it over and over again
It always gives me great pleasure

I agree, the studio version of Halleujah is pretty uplifting. I am totally up whenever I heard it. I like it's strongness. And the choir.

Hmmm. That's tough for me. As I mentioned elsewhere (but, not in a way interesting enough to begin a conversation
, I find a lot of his songs uplifting / freeing / liberating.
Right now I would have to say "Closing Time", but that could change tomorrow depending on whim...

for me it's Dance Me To The End Of Love most times
then Hallelujah at other times
then Hallelujah at other times

Well obviously it's the one that takes the longest time to get to manna!Manna wrote:for me it's like asking which star do you think is farthest?

I think Anthem is very uplifting. Every time I play it, it gets stuck in my head for days. I'm not complaining by the way!

It varies from year to year, but presently it is 'If It Be Your Will', which I consider much superior to Hallelujah

ithought "if it be your wiil" was the best tilli heard".theres an arm. theres a hand."there
s a law

love is not forgotten......
Re: Most Uplifting Song
I´ll have to choose Anthem, too. The song contains such mercy and comfort with strong sense of harsh reality. And as a songwriter myself, it gives me strength to carry on singing even when it seems that the world does not want to listen meaningful words any more. And as a quite the average Mr. Pitiful as man and a human being,
"Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in."
always gives me a little feeling of absolution.

For me
"Love Itself"
The light came through the window,
Straight from the sun above,
And so inside my little room
There plunged the rays of Love.
In streams of light I clearly saw
The dust you seldom see,
Out of which the Nameless makes
A Name for one like me.
