Favorite LC Album Cover?

Post by jerry »

My favorite LC album cover would have to be either Recent Songs or Field Commander Cohen. My least favorite would be Ten New Songs.

Best covers

Post by John Etherington »

Hi Jerry,
I possibly agree with you there. Leonard's first two are quite special for me, because "Songs of LC" was the first album that I saw, and "Songs from a Room" was the first that I bought (I like its starkness and simplicity). "Ladies Man" is classic, too. Overall, I'm not so crazy about Leonard's album covers, but it's such an event to have a new album that I accept them for what they are. All the best, John E

(For me, there are no doubts)
I'm Your Man - Leonard eating a banana - as good as it gets.

The two that spring from my memory are Leonard's original album ~ that face; and Field Commander Cohen ~ that face. With that face, an album cover cannot go wrong.

Cohen Live (1994) - so kitsch but captures the ral religiosity
Ten New Songs (2001) - two person, one soul, blue mood

I find the cover of his first album the best; the melancholy and sadness on Leonard's face are to me in perfect sync with the atmosphere of his songs. I also like the cover of "Songs from a room".

I kind of like "Death of a Ladies' Man". Very classy, and when you turn the cover and he disappears. Cleaver! There is something very negative about it, though. I guess it is connected to some bad times in his career. But oh well - great cover.

Another good one is "Songs from a Room" - artistic and simple.

Though not the front cover love the back photo of Songs From a Room- with the picture of Marianne sitting at the desk at the house on Hydra.
