i want to let you know about a show in sydney, celebrating Leonard Cohen's work. i have written and perform it with my band, ali & the thieves.
our show is called 'leonard cohen koans' and aims to offer access to the essential and most frail of qualities that we each of us contain, and which cohen is able to express so well.
for those in sydney, we are playing this on sunday 27 march at camelot lounge, 19 marrickville road (cnr railway pde), marrickville.

Ali & the Thieves are a tantalizing Australian jazz and blues musical collective fronted by soulful minstrel Ali Hughes. The band, led by musical director and pianist Daryl Wallis, combines the respected musicianship of Michael Galeazzi and Toby Hall with Ali's expressive storytelling to create vibrant and highly personal arrangements of Leonard Cohen’s poetry, prose and song.
Leonard Cohen Koans is invited to the New York International Fringe Festival in August 2011 - this is a unique opportunity to see the show before it heads to the big apple.
“Those expecting a covers show should look elsewhere: this is a sophisticated re-working of Cohen, cleverly staged and beautifully executed.” – Andrew Laughlin, Unfringed
thanks - hope to see some sydney people there
