LC Tour 2009 Pictorial Review: Joey Carenza's Photographs
Joseph Samuel Carenza III, "Joey", is the Leonard Cohen World Tour Road Manager. Even with Joey's hard working, fast paced schedule, he always found time to be an "on-the-go journalist". His photographs published on Flickr* are a fusion of traditional, impressionistic, wily, spontaneous and always fascinating.

He also ensured we knew about the tour mascot monkey, Fred, much to the delight of Fred's several Forum mothers.
And vintage Joey photos of the tour's private airplane leaving one concert city and landing in another concert city made us feel like we were right there on the tour and always knew where they were.
Joey has a painterly eye for detail which I enjoyed very much. Self portraiture is one characteristic of an artist that their work is important. Joey posted self portraits in his collection and I included some of them in my slideshow.
I chose two themes from Joey's images for this 2009 year in review:
(1) Views from backstage
(2) Airplane travel
In keeping with the 2009 theme, the music background is "Lullaby", the first new song introduced by LC in Austin, Texas on April 1, 2009.

Thank you, Joey, for keeping us informed throughout the tour and entertaining us with your beautiful photographs which we all anticipate.

Thank you for this, Arlene (and Joey, for taking and sharing the great pics)! It is lovely, and a wonderful way to send off 2009, with fond memeories of the tour. Perfect choice of tune, as well.
Cheers!

Arlene, thank you so much for posting the year in review. I feel honored to have shared a part of that wonderful tour with you. May 2010 bring even more wonderful times with Leonard and the band. Hoping to meet you again some time along the way.

Arlene,
Thank you for sharing the video. The song which accompanies this video is something new that?
I do not remember that I heard it.

Happy New Year Arlene! Thank you SO much for putting this all together! I know that I, for one, have vicariously followed the Tour via Joey's incredible photos. He does indeed have an artist's eye when wielding that famous iPhone, and he's influenced me to be much more creative and daring with photography. To combine his photos (including the sweet ones of Fred) with Leonard's Lullaby is a beautiful New Year's gift....to him....and to all of us. Thank you, and hope to see you somewhere in the world in 2010!

ps...Leonka, "Lullaby" is one of Leonard's new songs, along with "Darkness" and "Feels So Good" (or whatever its permanent name becomes). The new songs all have a common blues sound which is wonderful, plus Leonard's guitar work is now awesome!

Thank you for the information, I thought that this is a new song from Leonard, I just can not 100% sure. I like that song and I hope it will also sing Leonard in Bratislava.

This is wonderful, Arlene. The presentation is perfect and it has given me a new appreciation for Lullaby as I have only been listening to the other two new songs.
Hope to see you somewhere on the road in 2010!

Hi Arlene,
What a wonderful photo diary you have shown us.
Thank you Joey very much for sharing this - most enjoyable.
I see Fred managed to get himself in quite a lot of the shots.

As usual, a very nicely assembled montage Arlene! Clever idea, keeping it to two themes (would be overwhelming otherwise, wouldn't it?) and appreciate all the hard work you put into this!
