Cohen Tribute evening in Ottawa on October 28th

Post by Ottawafan »

Hello All,

Just a quick note for any Ottawa Cohen fans who are unaware of this event... there will be a show called '1000 Kisses Deep - A Tribute To Leonard Cohen' performed at the Centrepointe Theater on October 28th at 8pm. I attended the very first of these shows at the opening of the new Shenkman Arts Center in June of this year and it was a very enjoyable evening with many great musicians and Leonard's poetry was read between each of the songs. It was the group's first performance together (the plan had been to begin performing these shows at a later date but they were called to appear at short notice) and they hadn't had much time to practice together but they were fabulous on the night and they have been touring a bit since so it should be even better this time around. The original description on the website is as follows:

This show kicks off the world tour that brings together some of Canada's best singers and musicians to pay tribute to Leonard Cohen. Award winning spoken word artist Holmes Hooke will host this prestigious event, perform readings of Cohen's poetry and introduce the audience to the roster of artists including: Lorraine Segato, Lynn Miles, David Sereda, Rebecca Campbell, 2009 Juno Nominee, Susie Vinnick, Anne Lindsay, 2009 National Jazz Awards Vocalist Nominee, D.K. Ibomeka, Paul Quarrington, Martin Worthy & David Gray.

Here is the venue link if anyone wants to have a look for themselves.

I am looking forward to seeing them again, with my husband in tow this time :D
