poem on seeing LC at Radio City sun nite

Post by cracked bell »

I don't usually show anyone early drafts like this -- I just wrote the poem yesterday and need to work on it more. But I'm so excited to find this forum that I want to share it with you all and get your comments.

Consolation (for LC)

You look as old as you are
vibrate in tune with your own chords
and dance like you're holding the strings.
Some would say that's no compliment.
But some say you're a downer
because you bring them down
to the feet and make them walk.
When you tell them light
refills the broken pots
they say what's broken?

...wow i'm bewildered by the meaning
...mostly by your final contradiction of "his" broken beauty vs. "their" boring comforts

thank you very much
Of course I´m pathetic, I´ve spent my life getting the most impressive stuff out of the most impressive books. Malcolm Bradbury
