Buying pre-sale tickets from forum site or at box office

Post by cindylod »

I am interested in the Academy of Music, Phila. show. If I buy pre-sale tickets on-line at the forum from ticketmaster, will they be more money than if I buy them at the Academy of Music box office on Feb 27th or on-line on Feb.27th?
It seems that on the regular ticketmaster sites, the prices are very high. Does the forum offer significantly lower prices?

Going by my experience with the Tom Waits tour --- the prices will be the same -- the seats will likely be better than you can get thru the General Public sales.

YMMV

I'm wondering how to get tickets for the Fox Theater Detroit May 9th on presale. My wife and I traveled to St John's Newfoundland last year to see leonard and we just have to go again.

I am pretty certain that Academy of Music tickets are not sold through Ticketmaster. Academy of Music has its own ticketing service, https://tickets.kimmelcenter.org.

I just called the Kimmel Center. They first said that the tickets would be on sale Feb. 27th. Today they said that it was changed to Monday, March 2.
Another posting stated that the Forum ticket cost should be close to the box office price. What should I expect in terms of pricing so I know that it is fair.
I tried to get Beacon tickets through Ticketmaster, before I joined the forum, and the prices were astronomical.

What were the Md. site forum ticket prices - did they go higher than $275? I want to make sure I have enough money. The on-line brokers already have the tickets at well over $600.

The prices of our own pre-sale tickets are exactly the same as for the general public. Tickets already offered on various websites at astronomical prices do not exist, the scalpers hope to buy tix at the regular sale and then forward the tickets to their clients. However, the WILL CALL system will be a big surprise for those who buy from scalpers... they will loose their money; the tickets can be picked up only by the original buyer who has to show both ID and the credit card used at ticketmaster (etc).

Hi Jarkko, one other question - are the best tickets (ie first rows) made available only to us - what types of tickets are reserved for our presale?
Thanks for all your great work!!!

we have allocation in all price groups. How and in which order Ticketmaster (etc) then is showing the available seats to the buyers, is a total mystery to me (and everybody else - sometimes there seems to be no logic! )

Thanks Jarkko - got row 9 on the webb sisters side for one and row M in the stands at stage left for another - you were right there did not seem to be any pattern to what was available! But most of all thanks for this opportunity!!!!!

By force of habit I chose the 'retail outlet pickup' instead of the 'will call' and yet the purchase went through. It's not a problem picking my ticket up at the venue, I just hope that choosing that option does not somehow invalidate the purchase.

Well just to see what would happen, I tried picking up my ticket today. FYI to those who chose any options for ticket pick-up other than 'will call' - the system will not allow TM agents to print them. It reverts to 'will call' automatically. At least we know this method works and scalpers are having a harder time of it.
