Israel concert confirmation?

Post by yonatan_levi »

Hello,

The local press announced only a few hours ago that a concert will take place on September 18th in Israel. It was supposedly officialy confirmed. I was wondering if any of you have any additional information about it...

Thanks,
Yonatan

We will post the dates for the prospective second leg as soon as the final decisions have been made, and the tour management and AEG have confirmed the schedule. Let's first follow the summer leg of the tour and wait patiently...

Yonatan (Jona?),

I know that efforts were made to find another venue for Snoop Dogg's concert that is taking place at Ramat-Gan stadium on the 18th.
If those efforts are fruitful, we've probably got ourselves a concert.

I recall reading some months back, that Leonard may return to the UK later in the year.
Does anyone know if that is still being considered?
I have just witnessed 2 of the Manchester shows, and considering trying to catch a mainland Europe show, but if there's the slightest chance of further UK shows....
Thanks

I have just read Leonard Cohen will not be performing in Israel after all

(for hebrew readers, here is the link:

This is so disappointing and awful , how could the local producers ruin that one-in-a-life-time opportunity for so many Israeli fans to see him live ???

The routing of the tour is one of the most critical points, with about every big city in Europe wanting Leonard in the fall. Like I have said before, it's like a giant puzzle, and every piece has to fall to its place. Maybe the logistic issues could not be solved within the time frame (Or what did the newspaper say??)

basically it has to do with lack of sponsership.
What a shame.

The report on ynet basically said the local producer who negotiated with Cohen’s people didn’t want to risk his money too much; he was concerned the concert will not be profitable.
The report quotes an anonymous producer (possibly the one who was supposed to bring him) who claims that tickets to Cohen’s concerts are not sold very well abroad either (ridiculous….we all know that most, if not all Cohen concerts are already sold out!)
The report says the producer turned to the 3 local cellular companies, asking them to sponsor the performance (that was suppose to cost 1 million dollars) . They refused, so he backed off from the whole thing.
To me, It seems like lame excuses and overall a non professional behaviour.
I am wondering, was there a serious intention at all to bring him to Israel in the first place?
So many people were hoping and expecting to see Leonard in Israel and are so deeply disappointed today. In the last few months many articles were published by different people about the hope for a performance, and as the admin of a facebook group that was created just for that purpose I got many emails that expressed the same wish .
This is all so disappointing and annoying , is this really how the story has to end ?

Here's the article in English. http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340 ... 26,00.html

'“Don’t forget that overseas ticket sales to see Cohen aren’t exactly soaring,” the producer said...' They aren't?!
