Geez, Lizzy, you must've pushed the submit button one nano-second before me.

Geez, Lizzy, you must've pushed the submit button one nano-second before me.
 Well, I did the math and it would seem to be the new definition for nano-second is four minutes... but, then, a mathematician I've never been, so I could be wrong ;-) . However, it does seem you may have pressed Submit something closer to a nano-second after yourself  .

I like your life pokes you in the eye reference. Isn't that the truth.

I've got to say that I'm very encouraged by others' positive comments filtering in about the Leonard-Glass production... and Dick's continuing reassurance that it gets better with each viewing, so hopefully listening, as well. For me, it was akin to seeing a beautiful collection of butterflies pinned to a board. Hopefully, with further listenings [and, yes, if it comes to a theatre near me, I will also go again], some of those butterflies will take flight.

By sheer coincidence, as I was listening to the CBC around dinner time tonight, they were playing a 'thunking, repetitive, piece of 'music', I had hard time listening to. It was 'change the channel' music. It turned out to be Philip Glass. So...maybe it simply wasn't his best work, or Leonard's contribution made Glass 'sound' better, but it would take me some getting used to, to be a Glass fan. This piece had no voices, just Glass at the keyboard, and whatever else instrumentation was lost in the 'thunking'. For me, it's all about Leonard. I've read some very favourable reviews, but I think the draw, again, is Leonard, really. The only criticisms, have been directed toward Glass' contribution.

Seems there are a few people much more familiar with Glass than I had thought, originally. Still, I've had my experience with 'new music', and I doubt I'd ever play it, unless of course, Leonard was reciting, in that delicious, deep voice of his. I imagine the visuals added impact.

The picture as a whole has become clearer, and I'm glad there are a lot of Cohenites who really 'lived' their dream by meeting and photo-opping with Leonard. Whatever it takes....should Leonard put out another CD, I hope this is not the direction he'll take, as experimental as he can be. I've been watching old LC vids, and listening to CDs, which, as I said before, is good enough for me. It's Leonard's poetry that makes the experience an experience. Maybe one day, he'll come back to Canada "where he belongs" re: the quote in John Etherington's review. Of course, I'm very happy for Paula, who got her glass, and for all the others who seem over the top with enthusiasm. No matter what my opinion of Glass, if it comes to a theatre near me, I'm going.
