Manna wrote:sure, I got it, I know what's going on in this thread. Mickey the One teetotaller drank too much innocent coconut milk and now cannot stop micturating, therefore Red Poppy is here to help take the Sir Michael Bliss out of Mickey, leaving him decidedly decimated, desiccated and despondent. Deffo McDefferson. Right-o. Jolly good. Wot wot.

King Deffo of Deffo Land actually, if you can hear me properly.

Here is the new posting system for this forum. Whenever there is even the tiniest play with words the poster should quietly add the word SUBTLE ****!!!! thereafter. Although Red Poppy won't personally be using this, for obvious reasons, I hope it will be of assistance for his comprehension,
thank you

muckey_one SUBTLE****!!!!

Please note that the above post has been entered into the Most Necessarily Aggressive Response monthly contest and it will win as I am the Judge. By contrast, you are not the Judge. This remains a subtle but rather important distinction.

ZERO!?!?

I should get one point for an obscure word like micturating. I hereby reward myself one point for the word "micturating" which cannot be taken away because I am the MANNA-BANANA-MANDA-PANDA-MAN and you are not.

(This doesn't look anything like a stuck out tongue to me, but I think it's the best we've got. And here are some winkies for good measure: ;-) ;-) ;-) )

OH! Hey!! I get another point for writing "wot wot."

ha ha. I win.

sorry Guvn'r, the marking was a response to your earlier post, it's a chronology thingy. later, you recovered ground and I have decided, rather generously perhaps, to forget that you originally questioned my use of "desiccated".

have 6 pints on me.SUBTLE ****!!!!

Right! Even dead people or paralysed people, yes, get really educated and teach composition, history and poetry.

Aw Mickey and I thought being judge and jury in your very own poetry competition would satisfy that unfulfilled craving to sit on the bench.

oh, what a sweet blunder! I haven't heard that misunderstanding from an adult before although it is the sort of precious ignorance that can sometimes be heard from kids at careers evenings.

being a Judge is not part of a shared hierarchy as being a Queen's Counsel. I guess your mistake is similar to me wondering if you are going to stop trying to write books in order to become a booking clerk ("at Fulham Broadway Station, what a waste") or a bookmaker. Maybe you crave becoming a publisher?

even if I wanted to stop being an advocate I couldn't afford scuh a dramatic drop in remuneration. but you have made me smile at the thought, so thanks.

as to the competition, yes it was great fun working with Manna, I was very satisfied for her to be on top and me to come behind her. however if you had wanted to be a judge there was an open invitation. perhaps you were too busy entering into the spirit by entering your poems. which ones were yours, remind me.

all the best

michael

ps I am really sorry for the accidental acrostic in my last post. I didn't notice it until I composed it. you are so sharp you obviously spotted it immediately so thanks for not mentioning it.I don't want anyone else to go back and read it. I feel soooo embarrassed. what are the odds of that ridiculous message just happening by chance?! this is the message I mean. and I really do hope no-one else reads the first letters.

Right! Even dead people or paralysed people, yes, get really educated and teach composition, history and poetry.

Oh playwithfire where art thou?
we have got into a mire
all we seem to type is ire

maybe silence is your mode
but please come off the commode
I'd love to read an ode
from your empty abode....
Oh bless the continuous stutter
of the word being made into flesh

Jimmy, you are a Man of Discernment. Is she a fake (hint- yes she is) or really a real woman who really is really bad at poetry, really (hint- no she really isn't real). I want to hear your view. It's not for a Judge to lead a witness (except exceptionally in exceptional circumstances where the Judge takes exceptional exception to the stupid answer the exceptionally stupid witness is about to give).

so, tell me, what's your independant view, Jimmy?

Is business slow? All that time to compose your acrostics (a distant relative of shinty, I believe.)
Or perhaps there are lines of clerks coming behind you?
I hope you have at least bought the books, even if you haven't read them.
As a matter of interest, I have been day jobbing as a bookmaker for the guts of a dozen years.
Odds available on most things.

yeah, business is really slow. and today's newspapers prove it, http://www.24dash.com/communities/27885.htm or upmarket for you http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2007440424,00.html

ok for the bookie thing but can you do tic-tac? I can.

if an acrostic takes you more than 2 minutes, go take up something really demanding- like limericks.

I'm a bit scared to post really but had to comment
at Fulham Broadway Station, what a waste
Ian Dury fan? Great.

At risk of inspiring a rant, or anger, but what do you have against limericks? Is it because of Frank McCourt?

No, he is not the "Famous Irish Author" who currently has our attention.
