A friend recently left me this note early in the morning after she crept out of my house very quietly:
Moonlight falls on my head
as I soar to the music of our whispered moans
I ache for the sweeteness of your tongue at my breast,
for your fingertips, delicate and smooth, on my bare skin
Through the power of your love
you take away my shadows
and show me how to dream
Will I ever cease to be the child who cries to hold the moon?
The first part I understood to be a reflection and honest statement about our evening
The question at the end of the note I cannot find the meaning or answer to
A wonderful evening with a twist that will stay with me.

Lucky Phil
had a real good night
now crows in delight
you can’t fight the moon light
yeah
at the break of day
though, she flew away,
hey, that's no way to say
call me

yeah
at the break of day
though, she flew away,
hey, that's no way to say
call me
the art of longing’s over and it’s never coming back

Are you serious Phil? Will I ever cease to be the child who cries to hold the moon?
Perhaps you should think about that line for more than 2 seconds.
If you can't work out what it means, then she is way too beautiful for you.

Re: A note left by a friend
I thought someone might say that.
Truth is she is searching for the heart that will fill hers. She feels my heart is not that one. She wants to find a relationship that is as good as ours without the complications that come with it. So we are who we are until another time
Trust me I would be happy and more than willing to fill her heart but I think she prefers to resist that notion.
I feel she is searching for who she is right now hence "cries to hold the moon"

Hi Phil,
It feels a bit intrusive to even respond, but you asked. Sounds like "Moonlight" in the
first line could be an emanation, state or condition of, perhaps, what she experienced
prior to creeping out of your house. If so, the holding the moon part could be a
reference to a (vulenerable, i.e. "child"-like) desire to possess the source. But, Phil,
I don't know and can only put forth this possible meaning. Sounds like it was a very
nice evening.

Your reply mirrors what I think deep down inside is the reality of the situation
I think she crept out in the early morning so she could avoid what would eventually turn out to be what I think she really wants but is scared to admit
I think the question is both asked of myself and also of herself as you suggest
Strange how a lovely evening could not come to a perfect end

Or lead to a new beginning.......

There is a lot in that line, as you and Steven are suggesting. Will I ever cease to be the child who cries to hold the moon?
That line is "poetry" for me.

Are we moving toward some transcendental moment? Might happen.
