Maybe already is written  but I can not find it:

How to look for the Leonard's house? There is a street's name or number?

I have seen photos of the inside, but I know it is not a museum. There is some possibility of visiting it?

If I get lost in Hydra's island, What could be done there? Which is the maximum speed allowed in donkey?

There are no street names or numbers on Hydra.

Stand on the port facing the church's belltower.
The "DonkeyShit Lane" is on your right hand.
Go up the stairs all the way.
Then turn right towards "Four Corners"
(I think the name of that store has now changed).

When you are at ex-"Four Corners" ask for
Leonard Cohen's house or for Evanggelia/Koulis house
(his housekeepers).

Look for an old white-washed house with a garden
with banana and lemon trees.

You will recognize it from the knocker on the door.
A left female hand and two little Stars of David.

You've found it!
There is some possibility of visiting it?
Higly unlikely but you never know.
If I get lost in Hydra's island, What could be done there?
A lot of things but fortunately or unfortunately for you
it's impossible to get lost on Hydra. It's not New York.
Which is the maximum speed allowed in donkey?
100mph on "DonkeyShit Lane".
60mph on all the other lanes.

Enjoy your stay on Hydra.

Btw, when will you be there?
I might also be on Hydra next week.

Great exchange, you two 8) .

Loved reading yours, Dem :D . Wish my time was next week and the week after and the week after and the week after...

Might want to note that the garden is closed in and what you actually see is a high, white-washed fence with tree limbs coming over it... not the garden itself :) .

I didn't realize you were headed there, FYS... it'd be great if you come right after the Berlin Event 8) .

There's some overlap between us, so I can only speak for myself, Dem.

I'll be there from approximately 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, August 16 [taking the slow ferry over, per your recommendation 8) ] until the last boat out on Sunday night, August 20.

I WAS going to stay until Monday morning, but air travel screw-ups have me NEEDING to be at the airport in Athens by no later than 10:00 AM on Monday, to prevent any more complications. Leaving Hydra at 7 AM on the fast boat isn't allowing enough time to ENSURE I'll be at the airport by the assigned time.

Some others are arriving on Saturday, I believe.

Thank you very much for all this information.

WoW! , the donkeys run very much in Hydra, they can slip in the "DonkeyShit Lane", it will be prudent to think about a helmet.

I am sorry, in August I will not have vacations.

Dem ~ I explain my plan to you in PM.

Hi Antoni ~

Well, go when you can go ~ that's all that really matters 8) .

"The donkeys run... " ~ I'm sure it's what Leonard really meant; it just didn't have the poeticism of "The ponies run... "

4 Corners - LC house

Post by jazz4111 »

Maria Kondoritari and her husband Dimitri have owned and run the Four Corners grocery store for over 25 years - and now have small brown paper fruit & veg. bags and big plastic grocery bags with that name imprinted on them (in English)- I actually brought one each home with me as souvenirs - so no name change there. We shop there all the time when visiting Hydra and they know us well and are always very gracious and welcoming. Suzanne Elrod now lives full time in LC's house on Hydra and very much values her privacy - FYI
also one little quibble (sorry Lizzie) there are very few "fences" on Hydra - all exterior construction must be "walls"- so it is a whitewashed wall that surrounds LC's house like almost all others. Some of the donkey men have petitioned the town to add fences up high where the livestock is quartered and there are a couple of other exceptions but in spite of what Robert Frost may have observed, on Hydra, "something there is that very much likes a wall!"

 No quibble there, Jazz ~ just a simple correction  ~ wall is what I meant; fence is what I said :o ... not a Mark Twain kind of thing goin' on there at all on Hydra. In fact, a fence wouldn't block the view... well, I guess it could, if it were a solid one. However, a very thick and solid wall was what I meant to suggest. Thanks for clarifying that... :D First, Dem leaves Leonard's lot 'open' and then I go and put up a 'fence' !

Yes ~ Those bags are beautiful! Very earthy-artsy or artsy-earthy. Huh, Ken :) ? Ohhhh... I'm getting Hydrasick [as in homesick  ]... or would Hydra'ill work better?

Yes ~ When we were there, outside his house, we kept our voices low as possible, in respect of Suzanne's privacy ~ Jarkko would've throttled us if we hadn't, anyway  . [Teasing, Jarkko  .] Your own, long-term familiarity is very appreciated, too, Jazz 8) !! Great to see you here ~ how are you :D ??

I wore my Tee shirt with the "Four Corners" logo last Saturday. It is a great conversation starter.
