Marianne and Leonard

When I was a teenager, here in Montreal, not speaking much english yet, I tought that «So long Marianne» referred to Marianne street, a street that actually borders Portugal Park where LC’s house is located, and that the «canadien errant» was in fact saying goodby to his hometown in the song. Even after having gained understanding of english and seing pictures of Marianne and reading about her, the song still prompted Portugal Park to my mind, somewhere at the back of my head.

This very touching interview clears for good that misunderstanding of mine by deffinitly putting a human voice as well as emotions on the name. So she does really exists.

So long to Marianne street...

Kare just wants to tell you: I am not not Kari Hesthamar. I am the sound engineer who is responsible for the sound design in the two Norwegian radioprograms about Marianne and Leonard, - as well as the SURROUND 5.1-version of "So long, Marianne".
I have worked together with Kari for many years.

Dem,it is possible to record the programs with a program called Audacity.
Not sure with the surround 5.1 thou,i could not get that to work on my
pc.

To get any pleasure out of the SURROUND 5.1 production, you’ve got to have a home cinema theatre equipment in connection with your DVD-player. If you have that, this is all you’ve got to do:
Download the DTS-file from the homepages of Norwegian Broadcasting Corp.: http://www.nrk.no/magasin/ulyd/5418814.html

De-zip the file.
Burn the de-ziped file to a CD
Put the CD into your DVD-player, and get the feeling you are in Marianne’s living room.

I'm not able to find the DTS file for download.I can only download
i file called dynasx.asx.When i do that i'm able to listen to the streaming
version.But i want to download the program so that i can burn it to a cd
and listen to it on my home cinema.

Ah, found it out.The DTS file has not been uploaded to the NRK site.
It's only possible to listen to the streaming version.

Usually the interviews are online only for two weeks. Kari told me that NRK promised to keep them for a whole year so that all Cohenites will be able to hear them!

Transcription of the interview with Leonard will be posted on The Files during the weekend!

The streaming audio is for listening only, but capable computer oriented members know how to save it, too (it's up to the media players you're using)
