Lizzy, have you heard of Monty Pythons Flying Circus? John Cleese was one of the 5 comedians in that or (even older) The Frost Report? I have a feeling he appeared in Cheers as well for a brief period. He was born in my hometown of Weston-super-Mare (one of the town's few 'claims to fame') Monty Python included classic sketches like The Ministery of Silly Walks, The Dead Parrott Sketch, The Lumberjack Song and films such as Life of Brian and The Holy Grail.
I think the sit-com in the shop you are thinking of is Are You Being Served.
Diano, can I be a Bridosmaid as woll?

Ahhhh~ Yes! That's it! "Are You Being Served" ~ I loved that
. There's another one, too, where a husband and wife always seem to be sitting at a kitchen/breakfast table talking.
Check the posting just preceding yours, as it somehow landed here first [even though I just clicked Submit]. Anyway, it's written to you. [Never mind. You got two posts in while I was doing my ~ this ~ one.]
Well, now, I saw the/a movie regarding Monty Python ~ but Good Lord ~ I couldn't keep track of what was happening
! I know people really loved it [this was a long time ago], so I kept thinking I should and maybe would, if I could just keep up
! I saw Cheers some, but not on enough of a regular basis to have caught the episodes you might be referring to. At least I'm now in the ballpark [with "Monty Python"] to have a sense of what his humour was, right?
Oh, good. If you're a bridesmaid, too, maybe we could talk Diane into a Goth theme. But, check around for your hiking/biking accoutrements, just in case
. Of course, she may always go traditional
.

Woll, I am now gotting joalous about all you lot going to Borlin without moooo...
Oh yes, Ali, ploaso do bo anothor bridosmaid for mo! I wouldn't droam of calling your doar husband Loo, 'Loo'. As you can soo, I am practicing conducting mysolf with tho utmost docorum. I moan, I am about to bo joinod in holy matrimony with Loonard, and ho is a gontloman, and, as such, dosorvos nothing loss. Also, I don't mind a goth-thomod wodding, Lizzy, but I'll havo to consult with Loonard, as ho is a bit of a traditionalist. Duo to my favourito hobby, I am ofton cakod in mud, but i shall mako a noto in my diary to havo a showor on tho morning of our wodding. Gosh, all thoso altorations to my charactor I am attompting for Loonard. Porhaps our union is doomod aftor all
.
I think, in conclusion, it could bo, that aftor all, I'm just not his typo
.
Enough of this silliness, and on to another kind: John Cleese is another of our comedy greats over here, Lizzy. To me, Monty Python's The Life of Brian (for example) is an achingly funny film. Have you seen that one?
See you later,
Diane

~ Lizzy
Yes, Diane, I am willing to consider watching the Life of Brian. Since there have historically been huge numbers of Python fans in the U.S., I'm sure it's available somewhere! I know I've heard of it, and long prior to communicating with all you Brits

AGENDA FOR BRISTOL MEET-UP
After careful consideration with the lovely Diane, we have decided on an agenda for the Bristol Meet-Up.
. Welcome
. Buffet
. Live entertainment
. Raffle
. Non LC entertainment (for the enjoyment of some Partners)
. Karaoke and / or Open Mic Session
The Meet-up venue address will be published at a later date on this thread. It is only a 5 minute walk from Temple Meads Station. Lee can do a couple of runs in the car to pick up people from the train station if needed.
There is no bar, however, so it is a BYOB, I will start by donating my Hubby's bottle of Jose Cuarvo (he doesn't know yet
) for Red Needles.
Background music will be LC, so bring along your favourites.
Diane is a star and has done as much as me to organise this
She is even coming early to help with the Buffet
