You may disagree
that I write this only for you
that I follow no religion
but still study it for interest
And you may disagree that I believe in God
that I also call it Life
or Love
That we are all bound together
in this intricate majesty
this Creation
and it doesn't matter
what religion you were born into
And all this talk of heaven
a paradise
is so confused
contorted
There is no special place
where the angels dwell
no kingdom of hierarchy
no ethereal location
There is no superstitious tug of war
between God and Lucifer
they are feeble stories
believed by grown men
to deny raw reality
to feel smug
to scare children into submission
The only heaven is here
on Earth
right now
it has been in front of our eyes
for millions of years
A cloud a leaf a butterfly
the wind
two naked lovers
this is reality
The ocean is my church
The sky my synagogue
The mountain my mosque
The tree my temple
Many have come before us
many will come after
some have been wise
loving
Some have been bastards
And this is what we are left to deal with
so many personalities
each unique
each fashioned in their own way
moulded by so much
But none will have eternal life
nature won't permit it
it's a prescription written at birth
insoluble
You can't escape death
it is the price we pay for life
final
You may disagree
even say a prayer
but know that what I write
is only my truth
YOU MAY DISAGREE for Rick

Beautiful
Thank you Morning Star, I can really relate to this poem
I think you might enjoy reading through two of my older poems
I don't know how to post links
, but their titles are "Courage" and "Afterlife", Afterlife's listed as The buddhist and the priest though
.
They're located way back on pages 10 and 12
