reply to solongleonard.

Apologies if I took your original message as a veiled insinuation that you had an intimate relationship with a mutual acquaintance. Publicising the matter seemed important to you, and I assumed it was an attempt to shake off feelings of inferiority. Whatever occurred between the two of you, it could be viewed as indiscreet to mention the lady's name. Always remember that though boasting about one's conquests may make one feel better about oneself, it will likely have the opposite effect on those one is trying to impress.

You old attention-seeker you! You are such a naughty Boy.

Why do you stretch to spoil a great memory for me ?

In a self- basting Post Geoffrey, you dissed my play on a great song by Billy Paul

The Grammy Award-winning American soul singer wrote

"Me and Mrs., Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Jones, Mrs. Jones
We got a thing going on".

The alternative explanation of your comment is a show of prurience, setting me up to disclose personal details.
“Me and Judith Braun, we had a thing going down”. My post was for the rhyme.

It's interesting that you have "no doubt" in your opinion. What on earth compels you to comment on a matter entirely outside of your knowledge.

Publicising the matter seemed important to you, Geoffrey, and I wonder it was an attempt to shake off feelings of inferiority.

Your sketches are always good and, in seasonal good spirit, I accept your apology for your conduct.

I am aware that the lady in question is German, where 'Braun' does indeed rhyme with 'down'. Yet in English - the language in which you and I were communicating - one commonly rhymes it with 'drawn' or 'prawn'. If you look at the screen grab below you will note that 'down' is not mentioned.

>Your sketches are always good . . .

So kind of you to say so. The concept of 'good' is subjective, and wholly dependent upon an individual's mood. However, I am appreciative of being the recipient of your generous opinion. You and I have been acquainted for a long time, and apart from one time only, you have never disappointed.

Your mistake is a common one for non-writers. The "rhyme" is of course Perfectly Proper by PPPPPPPPPPP ( Pending Proposed Primary Provisional Professional Perceptible Poetic Pronunciation Protocol Procedural Principles) if it "matches" one word's correct speaky with another word's commonly, even if unratified, unorthodox usageness.

I compare your blunder with that frequent error in your own field, (turnips and carrots mostly). I have oft' compared us by our sharp divide on Wyeth's seminal work, Christina's World. I see the physical and psychological problematic progress of the Artist's neighbour's daughter, struck with a Polo-like disease, (remember how you minted a joke about me being your "Mentos",) whereas you, suffering from limited literary learning only spluttered that the houses in the background were "common pebbledashy with just 2 coats of cheap Dulux". Like you thought yourself a better painter than Andrew himself.

Here is a link to the original Painting, which you so casually condemn.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/145208897652 ... 04QAvD_BwE

It is currently on sale on sale for $29. Your work normally goes for no more than 300 krone. Says it all

Sometimes I think you are just taking the P, Pal.

I presume that the purpose of your incomprehensible word salad was to hide an inability to respond intelligibly to my message, a strategy you are fond of using. You should realise, however, that your bullshit baffles brains tactic fails miserably when directed to someone mentally superior to yourself.

It might be an idea to accept that not everyone is capable of being confused by verbal smokescreens, and learn how to express oneself with more clarity. You might also wish to restore my confidence in you by apologising for your earlier indiscretion of unnecessarily naming a fine lady. This matter can then be resolved and our mutual respect for one another restored.

>Your work normally goes for no more than 300 krones.

Even though the word 'work' is not wrong, it seems misplaced when describing an enjoyable pastime. Selling pictures does not hold a lot of interest for me, as running a business has the potential to destroy creativity. Should someone ask the price of a picture a frequent reply is usually: "Tell me how much it is worth to you" - then its approximate value can be ascertained.

Andrew's brother Bob, sang about you in his brilliant track Alliance

https://www.google.com/search?q=youtube ... 7o7cw,st:0

There is a kind of compromise you are master of
Your endless gentle nudging left us polarised
It's hard to talk to enemies – and we are enemies
What we had in common makes it even worse
You're proud of being middle class (meaning upper class)
You say you're self sufficient (but you don't dig your own coal)

I think that what you're frightened of more than anything
Is knowing you need workers more than they need you
"A herd of independent minds" Chomsky got it right
You're jogging into battle waving old school ties

And Bob knew you so well! Sorry, I can't stay to hear your usual "kind of compromise".

I hope you enjoy the track and learn well from it.

Now, you deserve a banter-break so I would like to ask you, in a language you may speak rather better that I can, this question

Enhver chance du kan komme til København Cohen Event om sommeren ? Det ville være mig en fornøjelse at møde dig igen. You know that my Son lives there, and he and his partner will put me up , (and may even put up with me). He is cool, and I think his girlfriend is cool as well.

If I am well enough, I will post again around Easter time.

thank you for the link, michael - i did enjoy it. i like most all music, especially the modern stuff currently being produced.

yes, english is my mother tongue, but after being given norwegian citizenship use it mainly when writing on the internet. after getting to know you better during our days together i remember you talking about your danish connections, and am aware that you have some understanding of the scandinavian languages. so . . .

stay well :)

And because it is an art gallery I thought the person who inspired Geoffrey to start it should also be represented here at this moment in time with his War Child Christmas card sketch and words.
thank you for these two messages. leonard's picture of an angel watching over children is quite superb. i have not been creative lately, too much socialising, but the holiday season is over now, so let's see if we can get back on track :)
this gallery, started five years ago, was indeed inspired by leonard. someone had mentioned to the webmaster that my individual posts were 'flooding' this particular area of the forum, and that person should also be credited. the webmaster and i discussed the matter, including having a special page on his site to show the many cohen pictures. in the end i thought a good solution to stop the 'flooding' might be to contain everything in a single column, so as not to intimidate other potential posters.
it seems to function ok, and i no longer suffer the embarrassment of seeing my name so many times. anyway, i will echo lisa's words by saying best wishes for the new year, and may it contain as many happy and healthy days as possible :)

Seismically sad lyrics once you've lived long enough to understand them.

yes, sadness seems to be a prevalent ingredient in our existence, and often mirrored in pink floyd lyrics. lately i have observed someone posting a lot of mindless religious crap in this column, and then i look again and it's been deleted.
i don't think i have lived long enough to understand what's going on, but i do know it is sad to witness.

You guys are little rays of sunshine. (That's sarcasm, I don't mean it.)

Look on the bright side, you don't live where I do: this is a picture of my thermometer outside my kitchen window, taken moments ago. It's a tad chilly.

oh no, what's going to happen with those beautiful little chickadees who sing their sweet little songs - poor things! here it's only minus two degrees, so a lot 'warmer' with me than with you. today's forecast is 'heavy snow, thunder & lightning with avalanches'. i didn't think it could get much worse, but having just seen your thermometer photo i'm no longer so sure.
apropos 'poor things', i have just bought a ticket for a movie with that name. so i look forward to being at the cinema this coming thursday :)
