Monster beast

[James the miller]

So, here I go again, putting something in front of you...

It came upon me suddenly, my armour lying aside
It had come tooled up and ready, from a beguilingly gentle tide
A huge black, red-eyed, claw-footed, bastard monster beast
It sunk its shovel into my body, at the point of resistance least

In one fell scoop out came my heart, my soul and my gut
It filled the gaping hole with dead wet peat freshly cut
It lofted my vitals through the air, into the waiting mire
Then stitched up the wound with an old harpoon and a length of rusty barbed wire

It left me lying gasping, ready to a die
But I didn't, I wouldn't, I will not, readily comply
I'm still here, I'm still alive, if for now in a certain fashion
Dragonflies only have one life, I intend to live it with a passion.
