Hello
I have been a member of this forum for a long time, under a different user name. I have dabbled with words for years, and have started plucking uncertainly at some guitar strings. And now, somehow, the two are coming together. No doubt influenced to some extent by Mr. L.C., but unplanned, undirected, some kind of alchemy perhaps, but maybe only the kind that results in there still only being lead in hand, rather than gold...or something in between. I am wondering what you think of this first attempt. Maybe you could find the time to listen to it at the web address below and are kind enough to let me know.
Sincerely,
James

Re: new song - Far From A Sheltered Bay
Hi James ~
No idea who you are, but I like the tone and sound of your voice and guitar.
It sounds like a fair share of fingerpicking, which I much prefer.
I like the depth and the dark.
It certainly has a Leonardesque quality to it.
I find I seriously want to know the lyrics, though. I can't make them out.
The chorus at first sounded like "I found my lust, again" ~ which I liked very much.
Then, it seemed to become "lost," and then the order of the words started changing.
Is there any way [if not publicly, at least via PM] you could write the lyrics?
Thanks.
~ Lizzy

Lizzy, you are so kind to both listen and respond, but, although I am not immune to it, I have to disappoint you about lust on this occasion! I will send you a PM about the words...I don't want to divulge the ending here for anyone who has not listened yet.
In terms of who I am, I wll remain incognito, at least for now....shyness about all this is winning out so far. I have been a regular reader of these forums for years under a different name, but have rarely posted anything more than thanks for the fan pre-sale information.
I am both enlivened and a little embarassed by your positive words....yours are the first I've heard or read about this, the first song.
The guitar playing is a hybrid of yes, attempted picking, and strumming, clutching, groping, scrabbling...but maybe that's okay. I saw a master finger picker Pierre Bensusan a couple of years ago in a very small and intimate concert, but I'm afraid I was left cold by the experience...around the same time, although flat and not finger picking, in a solo concert in a large venue, his playing less than precise, Kris Kristofferson had tears rolling down my face....but he had the big advantage of those words of his and how he delivers them....but I digress...
Thank you again.
James
P.S. Mr C. never fails to leave me a little lachrymose at times when visited in person
