I'm so sorry to hear this. But the positive is that only for them, these beloved ones of ours, we can give that great gift of not allowing them to suffer.

My very first dog who I was madly in love with was only seven when he had kidney failure. He managed to live another year with a decent quality of life on special KD food but then I had to let him go. I've never stopped missing him though I've had many other dogs and cats as my loved ones since. And even those brief years, for a dog, I felt blessed that I had that much time with that sweet boy. I couldn't have loved him any more and I felt so good that I could relieve any suffering for him. It's always made me feel good for him. It took me some time to get over my grief but all I do is smile when I think of him.

Take care.

Marcia
