Cohen adds third Dublin date
Leonard Cohen: to play three concerts in the Royal Hospital Kilmainham in September
Singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen has added a third date to his return to Dublin later this year.
Tickets for the first two shows in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Kilmainham on September 11th and 12th sold out in hours last week, prompting the additional performance.
The 77-year-old, who broke a 10-year hiatus from live shows by performing at the Irish Museum of Modern Art in 2008, will play the third night on Friday, September 14th.
He credited the audience that night with reducing him to tears with their warmth.
Cohen's greatest literary hero is WB Yeats. At a show in Lissadell in Sligo two years ago, he took time to travel around Yeats country and says he was deeply moved by his visit. "It was a huge thing for me," he said.
Earlier this year he released his first new studio album in eight years, Old Ideas. He has been performing consistently for the past four years after leaving behind his life in a Zen Buddhist retreat. A few years ago it emerged that his bank account had all but been cleared out by an ex-manager.
Tickets for the first of the all-seated shows sold in less than 10 minutes and the second a few hours later. Tickets for the third show, priced from €79.50, will be available from 9am on Thursday April 19th.

Jeany and friends,
it has being brought to my attention that another thread opened by "real-alan" on the Leonard Cohen Forum is dealing with announcements and news regarding the Kilmainham Concerts.
I think all members would be better served if there was only one thread dealing with the Dublin events,
I believe it would be best if the "Dublin 2012" thread continues with the task of keeping the members updated with news etc.
This "Kilmainham, summer 2012?" thread was opened by one of the Moderators ( before Kilmanham was officially announced )
when they transferred the Kilmainhan 2008 excellent report "LOVE YOU LEONARD" by Roslyn Dee from "Sligo-help for newbies" and used it as the Introduction to open this as a new thread.
Although I live mainly in Dublin, I am not in a position to deliver reports etc. as I have no little helpers this time around .....
plus I have now officially joined Leonard as an old-age pensioner and do not have the same access as was the case in former times .
I am delighted to allow this thread to "sink beneath your wisdom like a stone" .
{ But it may pop up from time to time if anything juicy comes me way}
mick, .

Report from Irish Teacher's Conference.
( with picture of Leonard ).
Teacher's Pet.
Lenny rocks the conference
Who’s the teacher’s pet when it comes to music? If the songs rolled out late at night at the teacher conferences are any guide, the septuagenarian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen is the darling. If we hear one more rendition of Hallelujah or So Long Marianne it will be one too many.
Songs from old favourites such as The Beatles, Bob Dylan and The Eagles were also to the fore, along with “new’’ hits from Coldplay and The Killers.
Who says teachers are not hip?
It was all fab, as Smashey and Nicey might say.

Of course teachers are hip...................well the older ones anyway
Comes from all the late night parties listening to Leonard on vinyl, on old turntables back in the good old 60's
How great tho to be able to go to his concerts after all this time
