Bizzare question

Post by ds20prefecture »

Anyone know what Leonard drives?

I know this is pushing the borders of obsession, and I know this is the music forum, but there was no "Leonard's life" forum.

I saw him in a Citroën DS in "In my secret life" - is it his? I'd like to think it is. I also have one, and had it before I saw LC with one on IMSL. Obviously not before Leonard ruled my musical world, though (one of my earliest memories is my elder sister singing me to sleep to Famous Blue Raincoat). The co-incidence grabbed me, I guess.

Thanks for the welcome! Great to see such a large and busy forum. The Yahoo one is very dead by comparison.

LC is my all-time favourite artist and by some way. I have never seen him in concert, but have pretty much all his released recordings and some concert bootlegs too.
You come for me now, with a cake that you've made
Ravaged avenger, with a clip in your hair
Full of glass and bleach and my old razor blades
Where do we go now, but nowhere?

LOL ~ Yes, and I guess one might guess that Leonard Cohen fans would have some ideas of their own, and be willing to express them. The great thing is that this site hasn't waned in its activity, either. No 'flash in a pan' ~ you can rely on its remaining so.

I thought he owned a gas-guzzling SUV.

Also, I remembered a question posted a couple of years ago on the other board by a curious fan... CooperF1, August 27, 2002.

"Can anyone confirm this ... I'm going out of my mind. I was walking around downtown Vancouver August 16 and spotted what I immediately thought was Leonard Cohen in a rental car. I ran after the car (not because I was actually going to run up to it like a stalking idiot, but because there was a red light ahead and I had to confirm my first gut instinct.). Alas, the light changed and the car pulled away. I have to know if Cohen was in Vancouver or whether there is an exact copy of the great dude himself wandering around Van. Please let me sleep again ... by the way, if it was Mr. Cohen, he certainly has austere taste. The car was about the size of a laundry basket. A friend of mine asked me what I would have done if he had turned and saw me and we made eye contact. I think I would have given him a salute and mouthed these words: "Keep on keeping on ..."
I know he's "petite"... but the thought of LC in a laundry basket made me laugh for about 24 hours straight.

Thank you, Midnight.....that was the source that I was thinking of. Wasn't it Joni Mitchell, though, who was seen in an SUV?

Hey David,
I'm in Bray, Co. Wicklow. Good to see some fellow Irish fans. I've only about 5 albums, need more! How many boots have you got?

Hi Cormie - I'm only up the road in Killiney.

I have all my bootlegs in Apple AAC format on my iPod. I'm a bit weird in that I won't copy his (or anyone's) official albums, but I can give you the bootlegs in AAC format no problem.

I have:
At the Beeb, 1968 - Radio recording, very good quality
Blossoms of Heaven, Ashes of Hell (I fairlly sure this is a bootleg, but the quality is excellent - It's recorded in Zürich in 1989, I think)
Diamonds in the mine field - so so quality
Montreux 76 - Good quality
Philharmonie - Köln, Germany - Audience recording.

Dave

I don't know if it was his vehicle at the time, or a centre one, but in the Spring 96 doco I have, he takes Roshi down from Mt Baldy Zen Centre to LA in (what I think is) a Nissan Pathfinder.

However, what he drives or whether he drives at all now, is something I wouldn't have a clue about.

Cheers :)

Thanks Elizabeth - it's something I came across in a poetry anthology many years ago now and it's remained a favourite ever since!

Cheers :)
