This will be two years to the day that my daughter and I had the incredible luck to meet Leonard in the street in London.
Ah, wonderful memories.

Does anyone know if they'll show the version that originally went out all these years ago or the recent one. I hope its the former as I've never seen it.

It's Tony Palmer's recently restored version that is to be broadcast on BBC4 (followed by 'Songs from the Road').Bird off the Wire wrote:Does anyone know if they'll show the version that originally went out all these years ago or the recent one. I hope its the former as I've never seen it.

Re: Bird On A Wire on BBC Four: Friday, 19th November 2010
Nice review, but I see that the Telegraph are perpetuating the myth that the film only had one showing. When I went to the second Barbican showing last Saturday, I told Tony Palmer that I had seen the movie at least six times in the Seventies. After the premiere at the Rainbow, I think it ran for a few days at a small cinema in Wardour Street then was shown at other cinema clubs such as the I.C.A. Since Leonard was becoming unfashionable at that stage, I thought I'd help to keep the flame burning by attending as many showings of the film as I could.

Can't wait till 9pm!
Clicking around the iPlayer site I found this BBC page on Cohen with two audio snippets of an interview with Leonard by a chap called Mark Ellen. Does anyone know where the rest of the interview can be heard?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/music/artists/6531 ... 5#p00b8qhj
The page also includes some interesting stats showing which Leonard songs have recently played by the Beeb and when.

Mark Ellen is the editor of The WORD music mag. They did a great special with LC on cover:
issue 40 July 2007 : http://www.leonardcohenfiles.com/maggallery3.html
The interview was 15th June 2006, recorded by some forum members and referred to here along with other radio interviews:

Even though I own both of these dvds and can watch them any time I like (and do), I still get a indescribable kick out of watching them on national television and cannot resist sitting through them yet again.
Well done the BBC.

Re: Bird On A Wire on BBC Four: Friday, 19th November 2010
I watched the dreadful game of rugby that Wales attempted to play. Had my cocoa. Went to bed. Read my Cowper-Powys. Went to sleep. My wife woke me with, 'Leonard Cohen's on the telly.' Stumbled downstairs for the closing credits of 'Bird on a Wire.' I could have cried.
Fortunately it's on iplayer - I never look, so thanks to guy here who said. (We get it now in France.)
Is the dvd for sale yet?
Best wishes Glyn.
ps. Watched the next lot, Songs for the Road. Thought the rendition of Avalanche was superb, absolutely superb.

What a show never saw it before but now I have it on disc to cheris it for ever Leonard was asked "what is success?" === he states "Success is survival" Well has he survive ????/
During the show leonard tells us the rights of Susanne were stolen from him and claimed by others that song is Leonar',s and he lets us borrow it .Remember Sligo he gave it to us for the night it is still his and we just showed us that we can also do it with him .
Leonard became an icon the day he was born
Leonard Thank you for every thing
