Leonard Cohen's music exposure in one's country

Post by Moonlover7 »

We are all fans of Leonard Cohen here and I am sure we would all be happy to hear his music more often when we drive to work and forget to take along a favourite cd. So judging from what is happening, in this case not happening, in my own country, I thought that perhaps fans from other countries might also like to present their point of view.

The subject of LC's musical exposure in Portugal, I believe, should be brought to the attention of his marketing manager, because we are in loco and he/she is not and we can perhaps provide some (hopefully) useful feedback.
LC himself said in one interview that he only has a small niche of the market. At this particular time (2010) it is very true in PT. For over 10 years I have driven to work for 2 hours each day and am always listening to music, zapping through many stations. Only very occasionally have I heard his music played on the radio.
Well... if music is not played people do not have much of a chance of finding that it even exists at all and appreciate it. I realise that most people do not have an educated ear, but many make up for it by way of their sensitivity.
Marketing is a subject reasonably unfamiliar to me, but an expert can do wonders, especially if it concerns a quality product. ;-)
