Vine for Salzburg July 2010

Post by tomsakic »

Let's start a vine for circulation of SALZBURG JULY 27, 2010 audience recording.

It was taped by Jura from Croatia, in MP3 format, high quality, from 4th row in front of Leonard Cohen, and Austrian audience was very polite and perceptive, which means that all the way to encores the songs went in complete silence, with dedicated applauses between songs.

The show also includes FIRST PUBLIC PERFORMANCE / WORLD PREMIERE of brand new song Born In Chains.

Our experienced Man of Recordings and Vines, liverpoolken aka Ta Ken, has said that this is the best 2008-2010 recording, until Jura recorded Sankt Margarethen show last week, which is they say amazing, but more about it sometime later.

This 3CD set is tracked by Ken (I will copy my personal copy of his bootleg he did in 15 copies for people who were on meetings in Zagreb in March and on the show itself, and which we received in Krakow), while previously Jura did some editing and applause removing (he also removed beeps from the photo cameras around him).

Foxwood's instructions from Sligo' vine repeated here:
If you would like a copy of this concert then please make ONE posting below.
This thread will act as the list that determines the order of distribution of the discs so please do not post more than once in this thread.
Whoever is top of this list should send me a PM with their details.
I will then post them the concert on 3 discs.
Once you receive the discs please edit your original post to say that they have arrived.
You then copy them and make contact with the next person in the vine via PM and arrange to send them the discs.
Once you have posted the discs please edit your original post so we can see that the discs have been dispatched.
Special thanks to Jura and Ta Ken!

First copy done last night and sent today to neo. (Sept 15)

Guys,
Count me in aswell... I have the Salzburg recording already, but it's not divided into tracks so I'd love a copy of this edited version too.

...what tom has forgotten to mention about the salzburg recording is that when i split the tracks i also converted juraj's mp3 files into wav files for compatibility with older players that don't play mp3's...

...and as tom mentioned juraj has excelled himself with his sankt margarethen recording which is by far the best audience recording of the 2008/2010 tours so far....and for anyone like me who never watches music dvds but much prefers to
listen to music rather than watch it the sankt margarethen recording is a far better chronicle of an lc concert than the badly mixed tracks on the recent 'songs from the road' dvd......

...... of course next month we still hopefully will have juraj's ljubljana recording to look forward to...so no pressure there then juraj.......ta ken

Hi tom,

Is it also possible to set up a vine for Sankt Margarethen? The description of the quality of that recording makes me very curious!

kind regards

Yeah, I was thinking to add (I really forgot) that the SOURCE RECORDING is MP3 but we're circulating 3CD audio set, normal music CDs - as I said, I burned the copy I got from Ken, and it's on its way to Vienna, to neo. :)

Also, only really intrusive moment is the first minute, before LC starts to sing - that's Jura's wife saying that she likes the seats we got, in Croatian:) I have to add that yesterday I listened to (very good) TM recording of Berlin, Aug 2010, and well - there's chatting in tghe background all the time, while Salzburg sounds like somebody's pouring Live in London into your ears, or that LC & the band have perfect show in an empty studio, with perfect acoustic.

Of course, Sankt Margarethen - we will do the vine as soon I got the 3CD set from Ken, I have only original recording which is ISO image or something like that and I do not use Nero software and I found it better to wait for the proper audio CDrs 8) So in a week or so, when this starts first. I did not hear the recording yet, just talk about its quality. But as it was my BEST Cohen show, I am not sure I wanna listen to it - I have hard time with listening to shows I was to...

I didn't want to limit the Salzburg vine to Europe, but it appeared that neo, first in the row, was in Austria, my neighbour country... Maybe next time we could try to add the country to our names, and then put us in geographical order, but this way is much best as the vine can start as the people are adding themselves. Of course, the last one is the luckiest one - doesn't have to to anything! - but if somebody drops later, she/he has an obligation to send the recording further:)

Btw, Ken, I *never* saw London DVD until the end (although recently I listened to it, but in the background) - we talked about it, but I can repeat: I never actually watch music DVDs... Croatian shops have for now only Songs from the Road DVD and Blu-Ray, but I am waiting for the CD/DVD set to listen the music CD, which will be available next week, they say, some delays in delivery to local markets are under way (what explains constant delays and cancellation of delays on Amazon also). I also never saw Lerner's DVD from IOW from first to the last minute (it was playing in the background though, so I saw it, let's say), but heard CD many times, and also, I never saw I'm Your Man entirely (I skipped many performances with my remote control)... Funny things. But I don't have problems with Rasky's movie or Spring 96 or documentaries whatsoever. Only concert DVDs.

Sorry, that I forgot to add the country to my name...
But I am willing to burn a second copy of the concert and send it to LisaLCFan. She could send it to Cheshire gal who will forward it to mwaldman. (so we'll have an US branch.)
The european brach will be neo -> FOXWOOD -> Davido -> rvandewiel -> Maarten (and I hope that won't confuse things too much)

I can understand you well in not being able to watch whole concert DVDs. It's the same with me. (Although we should be happy that they get released.)
Although I really like to watch those youtube clips from concerts I haven't been to.

I'm also really happy that St. Margartethen has been recorded so well. The sound there was really amazingly good and I thought there: "I hope that there is a taper in the audience..." I don't know if it is because they could play really loud there because no one lives nearby or the Römersteinbruch has some really good acoustic...

And it is the same with me with listening to audio from shows I have been to. At least I don't listen to them immediately ( - except for a quick check for the sound quality). When the memory of the show is still fresh, I don't have no need to listen to it again immediately, but maybe some months later I am very happy to revisit the concert and refresh my memories.

Hi Neo,

Good plan, rather than the CDs travelling back and forth across the Atlantic! If you set up your private message ability, I can send you my mailing address (or, please provide me with an email address, whichever you prefer). Thanks!
