Leonard's Thoughts

Post by clo »

Having just returned from the wonderful concerts in Sligo, and trying to digest the effect it's had on me, I'm thinking how I'd love to read Leonard's thoughts on how it's been for him. How has he found it to be back on the road? How does he make sense (or not) of the overwhelming response he has received? Has it challenged him physically, spiritually, emotionally? Wouldn't it be so great to read his reflections on all this........?

clo,

It would be fantastic if Leonard would publish his 'Memoirs'. That would be an instant best seller don't you think?

He doesn't give interviews while on the road but hopefully when he comes off the road he will. I'm sure Lissadell had a big impact on him. :D

I think Leonard once said, possibly in 1976, that he wouldn't let any of his memoirs be published until sixty years after death. If that's the case, then the seventeen years olds have a distinct advantage. Anyway, regarding the touring, Joe Boyd apparently summed things up quite succinctly when he said that Leonard appears to be "as happy as a pig in shit"!

Hi John,

Wow, I wonder what could be in those 'memoirs' now? Sixty years..... I am glad to hear that he is so happy. He really deserves it and has waited a long, long time for the recognition. I know he has had a very loyal following in his earlier years but now he really has 'it all'.
