According to Dick Straub this "Hallelujah" is not a song by
Leonard but another one written by Nick Cave himself.

Yes, this is Nick Cave's own song, released on his "No More Shall We Part" album in 2001...

Hmm, Jarkko, I am pretty sure that when Cave's "No more shall we part" came out someone commented his song Hallelujah, there on the old board. You immediately came with Cave's lyrics so we can see it is not Leonard's song :D ?

You guys should check out Nick Cave his song too. It's great! The whole record 'No More Shall We Part' on which you can find that song is brilliant by the way. It's my favorite Nick Cave records and definitely worth checking out if you like moody music (and I know you guys do, since you're here on the LC board)!

Me and my friend Eva were playing both Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah and Nick Cave's song right after eachother the other day and even if she's a bigger Leonard Cohen fan and I'm a bigger Nick Cave fan we agreed that both songs are amazing!

Hey, Stefan ~

I discovered Nick Cave through this site. Nick Cave loves Leonard. Does that make a difference in your coming to the Event  ? This friend, Eva, of yours. Have her come along, too....or maybe she should have you come along :D .

No time like the present. Don't live with 'opportunities-missed' if you don't have to. We would love to see you both 8) , or either of you :D .

Hey Lizzy, yeah I know Nick Cave loves Leonard Cohen. You can clearly hear the influences in some of Nick's songs. It's funny for me cause I'm discovering this the other way around, since I listened to Nick Cave before I listened to Leonard Cohen.

I'm sure Eva would love to come to event, but unfortunately she's back in Holland right now. She visited me here in NYC last week and she's such a big Leonard Cohen fan, she even had to smile when she saw the sign for 'Leonard Street', just because it's his name...

She's also the one who 'forced' me to listen to Leonard Cohen more, just by talking about him all the time and pointing me out the greatness of several songs and lyrics of him. I'm glad she did.

The weirdest thing of this story is actually that she's just 16 years old! She's the most amazing teenager you ever met. Eventhough she's by far the youngest of my friends, she 's also one of the smartest and most interesting persons I've ever met. She read more books than anyone I know and keeps telling me things like "Read this by William Faulker", "I preferred Junkie by William Borroughs over Naked Lunch" or "Check out this Bob Dylan song"... I can't understand how a person that young already knows so much, but it's definitely cool!!!

She's an old soul 8) and is sharing her wisdom. Leonard is one, too. I hope you'll listen to her and come. Were you aware that The Knitting Factory [where our first night's activities are going to be] is located on Leonard Street?
