Not bothering to pay enough attention to spelling a person's name correctly is often taken as a sign of disrespect, though I am sure Casey has the dignity to overlook such a lack of care.

Thank you mickey_one...

After reading elsewhere that it was Forum Members that provided the monkey, I thought I'd also post the clearest shot I have of that as well, from up where we were:

Image

So many blurry pictures. But it was worse when we had to pay to get them developed...

Today was a spectacular cloud day again, with huge cumulus ones all over the sky. This is taken where I go to think occassionally, on the hill under the Cinder Cone where that zombie develepment I told you about is:

Image

Here is Panorama I took today from the same place, though it only covers about 140 degrees rather than 360 this time: http://viablesoftware.com/casey/panorama7.htm

We went out hunting around 3, but there was this issue about a Thanksgiving dinner the St. George Adventist Church was giving at 5:30 which E wanted to go to help with. The sun sets here now about 5:25, but I successfully resisted arguing about it and settled in my mind for whatever version of the sunset I could get in St. George.

Now first we drove up through Toquerville and around to the road that runs alongside I-15, but goes through Leeds and branches up to Silver Reef if you want to go that way (no relation to Silver the car).

On the way down this road I spotted a Red-Tailed Hawk sitting on a telephone pole. This was one amazing hawk because he stayed put as I moved Silver closer and closer to the pole until we were just about under him. I took a lot of pictures before he took off to land on another telephone pole two or three poles down the road - sort of like Bluebirds do on fence posts, they keep flying down a couple when you get too close, as if your vehicle would never reach that new post, and they do this again and again and again each time you get too close.

But on this second pole the Red-Tailed Hawk let us drive slowly all the way under him and turn around and come back, so E could take pictures of him with the sun full on him.

It was cool, anyway... Here are four of the photos...

This is E's picture after we'd turned around:
Image

This is one of the hawk calling, doing that screeching thing they do. He did it several times, protesting our presence I guess. A hawk screech sounds VERY cool from such close range:
Image

Here he was looking over his shoulder, with a twinkle in his eye:
Image

Here he is flying off the first pole on the way to the second, where E took the first photo above. So this sequence is kind of a loop...
Image

So after the Hawk flew off we continued down to Leeds and got on I-15 there and drove into St. George. All the while the sunset was just getting better and better, this wonderful pastel pink, and all the clouds were starting to glow with it as I dropped E off.

The building they use for the church is just up the street from the St. George Mormon Temple, so it (the Mormon Temple) being the most prominent thing nearby that wasn't affected by power lines, I decided to take a few photos of it in this very nice light from the sunset.

There are many Latter Day Saints (the Mormons) in Utah, Arizona and Nevada, of course. But people also come from all over the world to see the St. George Temple - kind of like others come to see Zion.

So... Here is the Temple on what might have been the day of the most beautiful sunset I've seen this year:

Finally, the following photos are actually from last night's (Friday) sunset, and it just occurred to me that they may be of 'Casey's Temple', since I spend so much time trying to get the perfect photograph there, even though I'm behaving riskily lately by avoiding the Bridge of Perfect Photography in order to seek out a better angle on my own.

Anyway, here are The Watchman and Virgin River as they appeared last night with my camera planted down closer to the water:

You'll notice the fall leaves are getting scarce... Next year it'll all come together... I just know it.

For your morning color I thought I'd post several photos from the last few days... Actually I wanted to show these off, since you're being so darn obstinate.

Anyway...

Hi Casey..

I actually can't post the unrequited love poem along with a selection your photos right now, as I'm a bit too sad for that.. More and more recently, I've been experiencing some rather dire economic hardship.. so.. as usual on this thread.. things seem only to be getting worse for me..

However.. I am still trying to pursue some art related endeavor.. a film, actually.. so hopefully all is not lost..

Oh.. here's something I wrote a while ago.. after your Leonard experience.. Somehow I just couldn't finish it, but I saved it to my desktop:

.. Good morning, Casey.. thank you for continuing with this marvelous adventure of yours.. and ours.. it's..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NVgKiadhVJk
FULL SCREEN...

.. you guessed it.. "Nice Work if you Can Get It".. and I guess you got it, since you tried..

... I'm feeling somehow hollowed out today.. I'm fighting some sadness too..

Oh, you are learning how to read "signs" I see.. in choosing Frank Sinatra Boulevard.. I guess I'm trying to see what Boulevard is best for me to take at this point, as the best direction isn't always clear.. I was reading some of my last posts (along with yours).. but on one of mine, it's interesting that the rune I chose after my Camry disaster (whom I named Silvie) revealed something about the sun and the moon again.. a theme I'd been developing all along here..

.. oh, and thank you so much for the Leonard pics.. they brought it all back to me.. oh, and the video too.. and the monkey..
[END unfinished post]

You know, the monkey reminds me of a nice teddy bear.. the thought of Leonard holding a nice soft teddy bear is comforting to me right now..
Image
Image
.. and the sheep, too, seem cuddly and warm (such warm, orangey colors, Casey.. fading off into that lime green that's lining the clouds..).. maybe if I count the cuddly things (the sheep, that is), they'll help me sleep tonight..

.. oh, I love all the lovely bird shots.. but this landscape really caught my eye...
Image
.. that pinkish hue.. such a meaningful time of day.. captured so beautifully..

... I am in something of an empty place.. I feel like the lover who has lost her truest love..

.. I've been looking at my past.. seeing there how little I'd been recognized, in a sense, by those who were supposed to be closest to me.. Maybe I'm being pushed out into the world right now.. a bit harshly.. without even Leonard's little monkey to hold on to.. I want to believe that love is all around me.. I want to believe that it's available to me.. and can fill this emptiness I'm feeling.. I know when things get difficult, it's time to find one's strength.. only.. I'm tired of doing that.. and I no longer feel I have that strength, in any case..

Kindness is so very important.. We all have our trials, but how many of us extend a kindness, even when they themselves are beset by untold challenges..

.. anyway.. I'm rambling here.. I'm not focused.. but somehow, I don't care..

... maybe you were thinking of my name when you took this one, Casey..

Image
.. signing off for now.. v i o l e t (flower).. drinking tea with the dregs still in it..

.. oh, and thank you for Sissel.. as usual.. she's special..

I hope you start feeling better soon... As far as the thread, it seems to me you're doing a lot better than me, seeing as you studiously retain control over all meaning.

A cheer up video, sort of like this thread... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYpcFHtx ... re=related :-))

As for the lime green sunset, of course these photos are usually adjusted for my monitor, so that I like them. I hope it wasn't flourescent lime green at least.

And it is you that has judged me as wicked. No, I'd say you are doing pretty good threadwise.

Hi Casey, hi Elizabeth.. Cate.. Imaginary.. oh, your lordship (nice to see you in these parts).. Byron.. Boss.. Mat.. and all the others here I'm too foggy to recall the names of just at this moment.. oh, and Georges, my love.. Happy Thanksgiving to all of you..

No matter what our individual hardships may be, it's nice I think we have this place to commiserate, and show some care..

I loved the cheer-me-up video, Casey.. Barbara and Judy are a pretty unbeatable combination, and remind me that talent and craft, and art itself, are things worth striving for.. and I hope some of my efforts in such direction will make a difference to a few folks out there some day..

my love to you all,
v i o l e t (flower)..

Dearest Ms V.

Please don't be discouraged; an artist's path is a very difficult one (just ask Lisa :-)), but few paths have more heart (remember Castaneda's 'path with heart'?)

But right now, this moment, you need an imaginary friend. (No, not me silly, I am your real-life friend.)

Your imagination is richer than most, V. Imagine him up, and talk to him across a coffee table. Get to know him a bit (and he you), before you start talking heart to heart. He will bring out the wisest and best in you.

Dear Casey, thanks for your ever-gorgeous photos – and nope – I am NOT talking about Gawd.

Hi Cate.. Hi I.F.,

Thank you both for the kind words.. It has been a bit rough of late, and perhaps it's true the gods (or God) is trying to tell me something.. Change is sometimes necessary.. internal change, I mean.. but that doesn't make it all that easy.. Still, I'm trying to heal some things, and in that sense, change for the better, I hope...

.. well, Casey.. I'm still around, though I'm sorry I've been a bit scarce these days... I feel as though if I don't try and focus on all that's bringing me down at present, everything will fall by the wayside, so I've been trying to fathom new ways to keep afloat, as it were.. both emotionally, and financially..

Anyway, I hope all is well out in Big Rock country..

'til soon, everyone..
v i o l e t (flower).. still with her lovely Danish deep blue mug of.. well, some sort of tea or other... (of course)...

We have been on the road, E, Mr. Darcy, and I (Silver being stood in for by Enterprise), away from big rock country, visiting my sister Shannon and her husband Roy, and Mr. Darcy... Sally & Caesar, so I've been scarcer than you. I am on the netbook which is different so I'm not sure whether the colors will come out the same, when even the pixels are tiny.

I have been meditating over my wicked, wicked ways while sailing down the various highways with God... It appears they are acceptable ways, but only to the wicked.

Friday's sunset from where we are now:
Image

Very well, Violet, I contradict myself. I am large. I contain multitudes.

Tomorrow we are off to see some of E's people... though they're all around anyhow. Sheesh 2. :-)

Hi Casey.. very nice seaside (or is that lakeside?) locale.. By the way, just WHERE did I say you were WICKED?? (please show us all such evidence, as I’m baffled).. The West Side Highway, yes, I think I suggested might be Wicked.. as well as Wikipedia.. and possibly Halloweenie types with metal pipes (wow, that even rhymed).. but YOU?? Where on earth (or at least on this thread) did I say YOU were wicked???

Anyway, here’s a cheerful little ditty I wrote just recently, which I thought to put with one of your exceptionally enchanting photos.. The poem's rhythm I find a bit tricky here and there, but hopefully one can find it, as it's rather lost without it..

.. I’ll sign off with the poem..

Image
Let’s find a place like this

to unlove our love of days and nights and days,
how to unlove?

begin again
I kiss your morning well,
and kiss the work day’s worries
from your brow

my night’s farewell is morning’s
sweet word honey
for your eyes

as onward did I sleep of you,
of you, did I, did sleep

and found your night, my day,
my darling,
mornings dreaming dreams
of dreaming
you

my days and nights and days of dreaming you.

I won’t forgive this day’s unrest,
to die with not a word bestowed on
me

when all these sweetest smallest kisses
sewn on pages, torn like petals
downed like tears

(for all,
you've broken me)

(though such is beauty
sworn to us
alone.)

but now to die with not a kindness

just to die.

perhaps there comes a day,
when love’s long loving is an end
in its own way,
and not a hardship
for our having never been

for I’ve known more of you
than most know
of their wives or husbands, even

I’ve known more in love of you, and
fathomed well such hidden hurts
that only your own heart
could deem to know.

but sweetest sweet's
gone now, as
I am ill.

my sweetest sweetest sweet, it seems
I’m ill.

lost, could I be strong
and find a life, with love
now gone?

behold this finest thread;
drawn between our hearts and love’s abyss

(a place where we can meet
might feel like this)

a place where we can meet

you’ll not another find,
with such a fragile heart
and heart-felt mind

so keep I
just the dearest that I’ve known--just
known to me

as not a single drop
will I let fall

don’t think you kind for
having hurt this love
without a word

and still my heart
in you its kindness finds

such place
drawn from our hearts
this love’s abyss

(let’s find
a place like this)
