Re: The Infinite Haiku
mistakes not a crime
you should learn from your errors
that's how you will grow
for Marisha:
five back to my bridge
that is all you could muster
no one likes downers
I thought the theme was humour?? All I see here is negativity and back talk. Does that make sense for this "Infinite Haiku"-theme HUMOUR??? Please, people, just drop it, and get back to the Haiku!!! And sorry, Marisha, I've alot more guts than you for trying unsucessfully now 4 or 5 times to continue with the Haiku. All you do is continue the fight. Shame, why don't you start a new Infinite Haiku where the theme is negativity, back talk, and to criticize everyone. I won't be there. I'm sure most positive people won't. Have lots of fun!!!

of course it's my fault for asking anne to admit her mistake. it couldn't possibly be her fault for not having the integrity to admit it. you have no guts because you haven't commented about the original haiku that caused anne to say goodbye. how very brave of you to avoid that.MyMichelle wrote:mistakes not a crime

Re: The Infinite Haiku
For the record:
I am an adult woman.
I did engage in suggestive, playful, haiku-writing on this thread.
I consider the haiku banter between Harry and I neither tasteful nor tasteless, it was purely fun.
I can't see why any adult would be offended by either person's haikus, and I thought Harry's doggerel and catapult puns were clever and certainly harmless. (although my dominatrix was perhaps a more disciplined effort)
Good grief people!

Re: The Infinite Haiku
btw at least redstudio spent a moment dealing with the point (even though in such a biased way)
Re: The Infinite Haiku
Adult Woman, you have made my weekend, may you be blessed with the happiness you richly deserve for being sensible , grown-up, and (independently of this spat) witty as well. may all your cows have many calves that go on to Higher Education, University even. May they keep you in your dotage, well-fed and generally entertained. May you be kept safe from sour misery-guts and their sour misery-guttedness. May you receive a phone call in the middle of the night and hear Leonard Cohen invite you over to his place for "Ugandan discussions".imaginary friend wrote:For the record:

Marisha, I would like to tell you what thoughts ran through my head when I read your wish for me, but I'm far too disciplined to do that.Marisha wrote:

Whoever you are or aren't, I don't really care. My flooding the thread in support of my friend, reaching out that she might stay, is not an apologizable offense or crime or sin. How anyone can proclaim it so, and then go the direction they have gone, only contributes to the mockery this thread has become. Of course, I can see the connection of cat/dog/etc. with its added implications... and recognize the pun made. At this point, though, so what? The personal insults and name calling that this thread has descended into is far more offensive than any one of these haikus, or at least ought to be in the interest of basic civility.
Anne's intended departure wasn't based on a single posting. Anyone who might think that speaking of LC's used jock strap, et al, is in good taste is... whatever. My flood of support which, though "boring" and one after the other, would at least pass muster regarding the words used, and was hardly the most offensive direction that this thread took. How does a flood of support get shown? [If someone had been quicker, they could have gotten into the stream; it's happened here often enough. I didn't create them in Word and then post them here all at once. Yet, all that is really moot when I read everything people are saying here.] The 'flood of support' being shown for the pun-filled, tasteless, tasteful, whatever, the edgy, fun-filled haikus for those who support them is done through one after the other person joining in to add theirs... and express their support. As for me, if I feel there's a person worthy of showing my support, I just may flood another thread in exactly the same way. For a flood of support to be considered that is not going to manifest in a peep here and a peep there. I'm ready to stand before my Maker and defend my actions and let Him/Her decide and pass judgement, if it's determined I have sinned.
To try to exact an apology from someone, as though exacting a pound of flesh, when one's own words and thoughts hardly qualify one to do so is absurd. Judgement and name calling have been running rampant and rabid.
The 'sides' seem to have clearly congealed here and so be it. When I read through these postings, though, my stomach sinks. Vitriol is never appetizing. This thread has been going a long time and I don't recall its ever having descended so far in personal attacks. "Cool" and "cruel" rhyme very well... and there are some who consider it one and the same... high school cliques are plentiful with those who do.
There seems to come a point where all those well-reasoning adults need to look further than "I am right. You are wrong. You must satisfy my need to have it proven so." Whoever wants to apologize and be forgiven by whoever feels they are the final grantor can work that out between themselves. Hopefully, we'll see some haiku continue here. If the haiku ends up primarily blue, some will hopefully remain to make it be otherwise, without being called boring and mindless. Traditional haiku isn't, nor does it remotely resemble some of those posted here of late. Nor does humour have to rely on sexual innuendo, though it is the quick and easy route for some. "LC's used jock strap" is hardly intellectually driven.
