The thing about using maggots to clean a wound is that they tend to nibble a bit too much. Maggots are just never satisfied, and if the yummy rot is gone, they eat away the stuff that is healing. They have to eat. I think it takes a skilled medicine person to use maggots well.

Jack has a tendency to keep nibbling too. Like a maggot, I don't think his intentions are harmful, it's just that he's so hungry, and what starts as help may turn out to hurt.

Jack follows the Golden Rule. I think if he looked down and saw his own exposed raw flesh, he would be more interested in the blood than in getting the bleeding stopped. His scale for deciding between curiosity and self-preservation is tipped severely to the former.

I don't think it's fair to say that Jack drove Anunitu away. An'tu has a will of his own, and passed on the option to get to know Jack better. This was Anunitu's decision, not Jack's.

Jack, I hope you don't mind being compared to a maggot. Anyone who's like a maggot can't be all bad. ;)

You can compare me to anything you want. I would have preferred that you addressed me when you spoke about the ways that I am like a maggot so that I would think that you were interested in a response from me. But if your interest is to speak about me with others go right ahead. I will find it interesting.

My interest was in addressing anyone who might be interested in reading or talking about you. Since I thought you might not be the only one who shared that interest, I didn't address you directly. I have no interest in excluding you from the discussion.

Hi Manna

I know that when you wrote the word Jack that there was also a "you" part. I just wanted to hear you say it. Thanks.
It was the post previous to that one that made me wonder about who you were addressing. You had written that you agreed that Leah was beautiful and so I thought you were addressing me as I was the only one that said that but then you went on to say "as Jack describes" and it sidetracked my thinking.

Anyway that is the post that I am interested in discussing.

You wrote:
I have to agree - Leah is very beautiful, and luminescent as Jack describes. Another word that comes to mind when I think of Leah is motherly, but not the eat-your-vegetables kind of motherly, more the kiss-your-boo-boo kind of motherly. After about 20 minutes with her, I found myself wondering if it would have been ok to crawl into her lap and fall asleep.

If she is older than I am, it's not by much.

I think it was women like Leah who inspired mother-earth-origin of the world legends.
I could be wrong but I think I remember those first 20 minutes and so does Leah and we must have all been experiencing something similar because later that day Leah and I talked about that very distinction between the eat-your-vegetables kind of something and the kiss-your-boo-boo kind of something and it was those 20 minutes we were talking about.

I don't think women like you and Leah inspire legends but rather reveal the truth that goes deeper than such legends

In an earlier post I commented on a line from Leonard that went "As a sign of respect I take off my sunglasses whenever I speak to the proprietress."
I have been thinking about that and how it contrasts with " he puts on his dark glasses and he shows you where to hit"
