In the passing
Sound is lost
Words, bent
Condemned and tossed,
then wrought in iron
and pressed into the cloth.
Not like similies,
which are similar
but not the same,
this Trickster
by another name
is just a stumbling block.

No matter what
you love
You cannot do
it all yourself.
Someone else has
to turn the knob
on the microscope
if you are busy
taking samples.

You ate a lot
and must digest.
What has to pass
is not absorbed-
becomes the past
and is ignored.

When The Season Ends
When daisies sweat,
dandelions bleed.
Dropped clues and names
and little leads.
All your sweaty beads
and beds for games.
Just words on some flame's
nude screen.
Make dandies bleed
a crying stream
of bloody green.

You both make strong, valid points. I agree with Jo that languages are dynamic and change- And with Iubita- written word is different from spoken word. I don't think Latin is dead though. Many of the words we use every day are derived from Latin. So, in a sense, we are still speaking it. :P Jo, can ...

Word War I
This isn't a poem. Inspired by a comment about words, and laziness of youth on the muffins/war thread, I've decided to post this, and see if we can discuss it- Where does a word exist? Does it exist in the sound? Does it exist in the spelling? Is outta any less of a word than out of? (two words) Doe...

Lizzy, Big cities can be scary. I sometimes get a false sense of security when I'm surrounded by gobs of people- But you're right on. Bad things can happen anytime, anywhere to anybody. Fortunately, so can good things. There was some tension, for sure- Even if it only existed in my own head. I liked...

tom.d.stiller- Thank you. I really feel like you read it correctly. I'm thinking about making it a rap song- But, that may ruin it, we shall see. I enjoyed sharing it with you. Joe p.s. I was coming back from a bookstore where I had tried to sell my books. They don't buy on Sundays. :) It was ...
