Re: how the light gets in - hay on wye

I went to this last year & although it's not Cohen themed I can heartily recommend it. It's been set up as a kind of fringe to the full Hay festival and covers music & philosophy in more intimate venues than the Hay tents.

Re: SUZANNE VEGA TO SUPPORT LEONARD AT WEYBRIDGE

I quite liked that album of Suzanne Vega's with "Luka" on it, but I can't see why she's a particularly good choice as a support. A dubious myth seemed to emerge in the late 1980s that Suzanne Vega or Tanita Tikarum were the female Leonard Cohen! I'm quite a fan of Suzanne Vega & reckon that there's...

Re: "Leonard Cohen Live in London" - DVD & 2CD - April 2009

I've just listenened to The Future again. You're right about Javier Mas, a little too quiet. Metzger and Larsson's dominance gives it a much more electric feel.... Still a great version of the song. I'm sure you can hear the Webb sisters smiling while they sing just after their little dance. And I ...

Re: "Leonard Cohen Live in London" - DVD & 2CD - April 2009

Watched the BBC 2 "Live in London" last night and realised that the copy that I bought from Amazon must be faulty. The sound quality was fine on the TV. Either that or the BBC fixed it. Any other opinions on that? But I am probably too late to return my copy to Amazon anyway. That's interesting. I ...

Re: "Leonard Cohen Live in London" - DVD & 2CD - April 2009

I've been listening to the CDs and watching the DVD for a couple of weeks now and I think they're really excellent. However, if I'm being completely honest I'd also say that I'm a little disappointed by the mix of the sound on these releases. I wondered if I was remembering the gig I went to with ro...

Re: Hallelujah to be UK Xmas No. 1 – Good thing or bad thing?

I vote - good thing. I'm in my early 30s and got into Leonard Cohen via REM's cover version of "First we take manhatten" which they put on the B-side of their single, Drive. I then bought the "Closing Time" single, which also had 'first we take manhatten' as a B-side, along with 'Famous blue raincoa...
