This brought two things to mind. Firstly, i would like to hear The Master sing Do Wah Diddy Diddy. Secondly, the movie L.A. Story, in which the meaning of life was revealed to be: "Sing Do Wah Diddy".

"I believe that you heard your master sing, 'Doo wah diddy, diddy dum diddy do' while I was sick in bed."

Inspired. I never really imagined responses, but those really lifted my day.

Hahaha.

I'm sure we can come up with more. How about this gem:
"All the ladies go moist, and the judge has no choice, a singer must die for the lie in his voice [when he sang] 'Doo wah diddy, diddy dum diddy doo.'"

I propose a joke that has good taste to all people who like to be part of a fan club that has nothing to say (well, this is not polite to talk with the mouth full, first).
The more the star is growing old the best is made out of it :

If you can find the 1980 recording of Leonard's Tel Aviv concert, listen to the end of 'Memories'. The chorus girls are singing "Ooh-ba-oo, ooh-ba-oo . . ." when he stops and says: "That's IT - 'ooh-ba-oo'!, 'ooh-ba-oo!" He gave the impression that he believed that 'ooh-ba-oo' was the answer to everything. I can't remember all he says, but Princess Diana is mentioned. Ooh-ba-oo!!

but now it's come to distances
and both of us must try
your eyes are soft with sorrow
hey, that's no way to say doo wah diddy diddy dum diddy do.
i think greil marcus, or some other rock critic, once wrote a book tracing the origins of 'a-wop-bop-a-loo-bop, a-lop-bam-boom', back from little richard to gospel music and baptists speaking in tongues, and i think back from there to the anabaptist 'mystical anarchists' in medieval europe, and all the way back to the gnostics of alexandria. never read it, though, and i might be making it all up.

The bets are open. You can bet on :
a) how long this thread will be;
b how far it will go;
c) if this thread will be moved in the proper section;
c) if yes in how many time.
Now I came here joking and I'm getting serious at this matter - I find it interesting because johnny7moons (is it venus or jupiter?) came out with serious stuff for me to think about.
Sacred sounds. Anjani knows a bit about that.
And, and idea leading to another :
We can call idiot whoever is making sounds that seem not logical - not reliated to something known or comfortable for us - statu quo or tutti quanti.
But ey, sounds have power of themselves that are not reliated to the sense of the words, they are just pure physic.
And they induce emotion and sensation in the body.
Also, knowledge can be carried through something else than pure logic and this is what makes the difference between scientists and artists.
Art is very subjective and critics as eveybody knows are frustrated oafishes who are mad to whoever dare - in they face - using the creativity they deny to themselves and to others as well.
I guess that because it is evidently so fun to play with this particular form of creativity, there is something with those sounds that logic denied but the rest is hungry for. So have fun playing in your own s... pretending somebody else done it. That's cute.
Have fun!

The blizzard, the blizzard of the world
has crossed the threshold
and it has overturned
the order of the soul
When they said DOO WAH DIDDY DIDDY DUM
I wonder what they meant
