Can we only vote once? I voted for Tom Waits. They have such admiration for each other... and with the quality of each of their voices, I think some astounding things [vocals/rhythms/music] could come out of a duet. I can't remember the name of that Tom Waits song I love so much... but it's HEAVILY, vocally rhythmic... Glockenspiel or some such.. I don't think that's it, though.

So would I, Tom. I'd also love to see him perform in person, period.

I'd have to say Nick Cave first, with John Cale and Tom Waits close behind....

I'm a die-hard N. Cave fan, though....

ROGER WATERS
It's A Miracle

Miraculous you call it babe
You ain't seen nothing yet
They've got Pepsi in the Andes
Mcdonalds in Tibet
Yosemite's been turned into
A golf course for the Japs
The Dead Sea is alive with rap
Between the Tigris and Euphrates
There's a leisure centre now
They've got all kinds of sports
They've got Bermuda shorts
They had sex in Pennsylvania
A Brazilian grew a tree
A doctor in Manhattan
Saved a dying man for free
It's a miracle
Another miracle
By the grace of God Almighty
And pressures of marketplace
The human race has civilized itself
It's a miracle
We've got a warehouse of butter
We've got oceans of wine
We've got famine when we need it
Got a designer crime
We've got Mercedes
We've got Porsche
Ferrari and Rolls Royce
We've got a choice
She said meet me
In the Garden of Gethsemane my dear
The Lord said Peter I can see
Your house from here
An honest man
Finally reaped what he had sown
And farmer in Ohio has just repaid a loan
It's a miracle
Another miracle
By the grace of God Almighty
And pressures of marketplace
The human race has civilized itself
It's a miracle
We cower in our shelters
With our hands over our ears
Lloyd-Webber's awful stuff
Runs for years and years and years
An earthquake hits the theatre
But the operetta lingers
Then the piano lids comes down
And breaks his fucking fingers
It's a miracle

It's got to be this....
there is a spoken tempo to this song.
I can hear the duet now.
:)

Yes... the irony is self-evident there and would come through in their voices, that 'miracles' aren't always to be understood as 'good' things.

Leonard and which person would be speak-singing it, Pete?

Nick Cave on top among the late greats, just spotted a Cave curiosum:

Ahhh, okay, Pete, thanks :D ~ So, what is it you are hearing? I'm unfamiliar with Roger's voice and style.

Thanks.

Sorry if I sound like a feminazi, but why are all the duet options male? I'd love to hear what would happen with someone like Fiona Apple, Shawn Colvin, or maybe Joni Mitchell if that history wouldn't get in the way.

Of the choices, I voted for Tom Waits. They both have this grinding-gears-in-a-mudhole sound in their voices now. Could be fun, or it could end up sounding like tar and gravel. Of course, I would love it.

Hmmm, Nick Cave. I always imagine him in bare feet. Why is that?

  ~ I love that. It needs to be used somewhere 'officially' ~ just because it's so colourful. Who would be which?

Maybe you saw him that way somewhere, once, and the image never left you. I love seeing people barefoot, the same as I love to be.

Welcome to the Forum, Manna :D .

Tom  ~ Not all of us bellow  .
