All who were on Hydra certainly remember Henk Hofstede, the leader of
the well-known Ducth band THE NITS. He has now made a whole CD of Leonard's songs.
The album comes with a new edition of the book Yesterday's Tomorrow by Marc Hendrickx.

More on http://www.leonardcohenfiles.com/henkCD.html

This CD is a part of the Yesterday’s Tomorrow project by Marc Hendrickx
and is a supplement to the second edition of the book "Yesterday's Tomorrow".

Go to the following address: http://www.vpro.nl/programma/debespreke ... /25675732/
then click on “Video” in the right hand column (next choose your player and connection speed).
You will see a program about Henk Hofstede. At 40 minutes he presents the new edition
of Marc Hendrickx’s Cohen book and his (Henk’s) Cohen tribute album. At 45 minutes he sings
“Who by fire” live!

Thanks to Wijbe for the link!

Wouldn't you just know it... I can get the Brokeback Mountain interview, but all I get on him is a larger photo, with no way to connect to Video, choose speed, or anything else.

AH! Got it!!!

Now, that's the kind of cover I love most. He and his group take the song seriously and sing it true to its original intent, and don't contort their treatment of it, so as to turn it into a caricature of itself. Excellent 8) !!!
"If it ain't broke, don't fix it!"

I believe Leonard would have thoroughly having the cellist play in his group. The woman who strictly sings, as well, but somehow even moreso, the waiflike cellist... even if he'd had her dress differently  .

Thank you Aqua!

So rare to listen to a Cohen song
with my favourite instrument of all:

the cello!

PS) And the beautiful cellist is Arwen Linneman
of the Nits, isn't she?

Any idea how to buy the book/cd? Also, if it's not a daft question given the title, is the book in English?

Cheers - David

The Avalanche CD will be available via http://www.faze.ch in January.
It contains four more songs than the CD that was part of Marc
Hendrickx' book, one of them recorded live!
Do not know yet what the CD will be called.
One thing is sure though: the Avalanche Quartet will play six
concerts in Switzerland in January/February 07.
Guest as on the CD: Oli Hartung, the tallest guitarist by far.
