Leonard Cohen will be 71 on September 21st. This new thread is for YOUR Birthday Wishes (please no other topics, no replies to preceding messages --- and it would also be polite to use your real name instead of nicknames).

Dear Leonard ~
This year's Happy Birthday, Leonard is a simple one. My words come with heartfelt wishes and concern that everything will go well for you this year and in all that follow.
I look forward with great anticipation to, once again, seeing you in person ~ your at least reading, if not singing your songs, and sharing more of your humour and anecdotes.
Be well, Leonard. My heart is with you and your loved ones during this difficult time. Thank you for all you are and have been. Thank you for staying connected with us here.
Love,
Elizabeth Bacon-Smith

Dear Leonard
71, do you realize ??
Best wishes for you and the ones you love.
In those difficult times, I am sure that the person who helped us not to give up will apply this method to himself.
Thanks again
Sorry for my poor english

Dear Leonard,
Happy Birthday!!!!!
You are such a large presence in the world, and in this ever-growing online community. You influence countless artists, molding and defining their future works. I consider you to be my mentor; I am looking forward to your new book of poetry, new songs, and the possibility of meeting you some day so I can thank you in person for infusing the vibrance of life into words.
My deepest devotion, love and respect,
Natalie Fuhr

Dear Leonard,
Happy Birthday once again. The world keeps turning, and there is nothing new under the sun -- alas, and thankfully, as well.
I wish you peace, calmness, and a happy spirit. Enjoy some ice cream. *smile

Dear Leonard,
I did this poem a few days ago and I want to dedicate it to you...
with empty sockets
I saw
the flowers bloom,
the leaves grow,
the seed in my window pot be born.
I listened
to the wind,
the rain,
the dancing of the birds,
the singing of the cricket in the night,
and your voice
Happy birthday!
Sandra

Dear Leonard,
Happy birthday!
I hope to see you in person for the first time in my life in the near future, and I pray that I will see you in the same good shape you are in right now! Stay healthy, witty and "cool", even when you're getting (a little bit) older...

Happy birthday, Leonard!!! I like to hear you're working so well these days ΒΈ- it's nice to know you're still & always somewhere on the edge of world for us, to see what's beyond. We're looking forward to the new album, Anjani's record and your book... In all these happenings, stay cool as you always was

And - as Dick and Linda said -
thanks for the trouble you took from my eyes. I thought it was there for good, so I never tried.
Love,
Tom

Dear Leonard~
Last year, in your birthday wish, I compared you, well your single-name status, to that of Lassie. Seven dog years later, and here we are again. I could write a tired cliche, such as:
"We must stop meeting like this..."
But I hope that I would not sink that low (Damn! another cliche!).
I do wish you many more years of cake along with countless moments of happiness and plenty of sigh-inducing smiles of satisfaction; such as those your music and words bring to me.
With love,
Laurie in Alaska
