I really like all of your pictures, Greta. Very interesting take on "Alexandra Leaving" ~ Leonard looks a combination of startled and helpless, as he watches her walk away with her Adonis lord. Seeing these really makes me want to grab a paintbrush. Your Alexandra one almost looks like chalk. Is it pencil?

I agree with you Lizzy. Greta, you have some very nice work in here. And Lizzy, the first thing I thought as I was going over them was "I wish I could draw or paint". But then, I've never really tried, so I have myself to blame for that. I liked your watercolours the best, I think (she said hoping that she had correctly identified the watercolours from oils or chalk).

Thanks for the look at your work.

Linda.

thanks for the lovely comments. i paint and draw for my own pleasure but from time to time i have the need to let the world see them, what people think etc. Thank you verymuch for boosting my ego :)

Alexandra is drawn with chalk pastels on a black paper. i slighty edited the picture with a computer program to make it more brighter and magical.

The other pictures: the first two are watercolors..then indian ink (i adore it) and then again pastels.

Linda, Lizzy you really should paint :) i think there is noone not able to make some art. even if the pictures don't look so good, the proccess itself is wonderful..(i love to apply fresh paint to paper) Most of my so called pictures just go to the trash, but i still love doing it. So forget everything and go for it! :)

This is a web site of a good friend of mine. Sometimes I paint artless atrosities in her studio  . She paints fantasy and loves fish and butterflies so she paints them together. I have one original called Fishfly" that I bought with an old engagement ring when we first became friends. We have been great friends for years.

Tri-me!

Your friend does some truly lovely work! It brings to mind some of the nature scenes that The Group of Seven are renowned for. I'm still trying to find your Fishfly though. Maybe I mistook your 'artless atrocities' as one of the beautiful paintings? I'll go look again.

Linda.

Ooops. I get it. You bought Fishfly so it's hanging in your home, not in the enclosed pages! OK. Tell your friend she does lovely work.

Tri-me,

One day you should show us one of your 'artless atrocities' :D but if you'd rather not, I understand perfectly! Sometimes we just know when our 'artless atrocities' should never see the light of day! I suspect that yours is a bit better than you're letting on, though. I don't know why I think that. We'll call it instinct.

I prefer to make films. One day I hope to do an animation. I have come across a story about a woman who was torched to death because she was thought to be posessed by fairies.

http://www.citypaper.com/arts/review.asp?id=1964

It woulf be done with photographs, drawings, photoshop etc just in the drema stages

Hi,

My, you seem to have a knack for unearthing unusual stories! Good luck with this one. If it goes to film, maybe you can cast me as a demonic fairy

See you,
Linda.

Nice work Greta.

going off topic slightly, again, I heard a news story yesterday about a happening in Edinburgh, Scotland. It seems someone has been putting envelopes containng real money in banknotes through letterboxes, with just a note inside saying "Do you believe in fairies?" Police say they do not see these acts as malicious! :)

Greta do you sell your work? I really like the picture.

Thanks Margaret. I really like your avatar. The story is an interesting lead into the story. There are many who still believe in faeries. There is a documentary from Iceland about people who believe in faeries trolls and UFO's and an NFB of Canada film called The Fairy Faith.

I was seeing an Aunt talking with her nieces about women and growing up to marry and having children, as we are suppose to do. When I was in kindergarten in 1970 I was singing about how I would grow up to be a nurse or teacher until I had children...Nowadays women can choose wheter or not they wish to marry and have children. In the past a woman who chose not to have children have been considered to be selfish and cruel.

In this story like the scenario is that she was a beautiful woman of means who chose to live a frugal life. (shopping at outlet stores and second hand stores is very popular here) She and her husband did not have children and she was happy  !!!! There must have been somehting very wrong here!!!

I don't know what it is like in other places but I know many woman my age late thirties + who are not marrying and have chosen not to have children. We are very happy women :D .

oh...
i was away for the weekend...and i already have trouble catching up with this thread...

First of all: Tri-Me...your friend does marvellous work...I love the colours and well everything. i dont't really want to start anlyzing, although i have a temptation(too much art history) They are so positive and simple in a beautiful way. Maximum points from me if art could be rated...

secondly: i haven't sold any work (yet...) But if you like it...hen is your birthday.. i could mail it to you as a gift :P

thirdly the text under the pictures is really unsigniicant but if it makes you happy here goes :
1 : Minu lemmikpilt. Pildil kujutatut on tõlgendatud mitmeti. Minu jaoks lihtsalt niisama kribu-krabu :) My favourite. it has been interpeted differently butfor me it is just a fun doodle
2:Sinine kribu-krabu. Unistus...Unenäod..ma ei tea :D
Blue doodle...Dreams? i am not sure
3:noh mitte just kõige parem tuššijoonistus aga käib kah :)
well not the best indian ink but it will do
4:Lihtne. Tegemist on hobusega <õlipastellid, A4>
very simple! it is a horse! Oil pastels A4

ell i am in a hurry so i'll continue some other time :)
