I saw that, too, except it had lyrics from Hallelujah. ❤ Identical graphics, though. Clearly a Leonard Cohen person created the memes.

I like this so much better than singing 'Happy Birthday' - I've run out of people to whom to sing happy birthday

I must honestly say that this Corona virus scares the sh*t out of me. In the Netherlands we have daily increasing numbers of sick en casualties and are 1 step away from total lockdown
Two weeks ago I thought it would be a short period of " being carefull' and it would pass. Now I am much more concerned that this situation will get worse and last for month's and will have effect on the way of live for years to come
Hope I am wrong though. Everybody stay save!

Yep, we live in strange times indeed - love the hand washing accompaniment!
Still a while to go but I guess Ghent event could fall victim .... any updates and thoughts would be welcome
Stay safe out there ....
Patrick

I created the Hallelujah version

I'm not responsible for this one though.
I'm terrified now. The numbers, and news, from Italy alone is enough to send chills down my spine. Please stay safe everyone.

When I saw this one I thought of the lyrics to Hallelujah!
...
It feels like the calm before the storm here. I have lots of toilet paper, that should be a comfort, but I still feel anxious
I hope that all that post here are fine, that those they love are fine and remain fine, and 'normal' comes back to us as quickly as it can.

I keep thinking of these lines from Gypsy Wife:
"...this is the darkness/ this is the flood/ and there is no man or woman can't be touched..."
And from The Flood: "The flood it is gathering/ Soon it will move/ Across every valley/ Against every roof..."
How very prescient of Leonard, as always. But I don't recommend those lines for handwashing! And let's hope the rainbow & the dove come sooner than later...
It's good to see the posts of old friends here, & I send wishes of wellness for everyone, & healing for the darkness of the world!

In these times I think there is but one lyrical option -

The Future is definitely my choice of song for the current times.

the rich have got their channels in the bedrooms of the poor
"apps" are being developed to see if we've been somewhere near somebody who might be bearing the virus ; what's next ?
(telecom-providers already publish data, telling that our trips of more than 40kms have dropped by 95%, and other things like that - where we've been, for how long, but all of these data would be "anonimised"?)
these are scary times, and not only because of this virus

HugoD says: I must honestly say that this Corona virus scares the sh*t out of me.
The actual numbers, both infected and dead, are minuscule, when taken as a percentage of the world's population.
That said, I totally agree with your concern for compatriots. I feel the same.
The developing situation first began to sink into my awareness in February. My thoughts turned immediately to my beloved hometown of New Orleans and the millions from all over the world, jammed into the city for Mardi Gras...oh, no. My heart just sank at the realization of how many could become infected and then carry the virus back to their own hometowns, all over the US and the world.
Now those fears are playing out in real time, as the news from New Orleans gets exponentially worse every day.
This in turn has led me to wonder, are all the Forum friends ok?
I wonder if it would be out of line to suggest that we each try to contact a few of the LC Forum participants who don't come around much any more, and ask them to check in, here in this thread, and just let us know they're ok.
Is that a good idea?

I'm still here
wherever that is...
I'm mulling around these "Darker" lines of Leonard;
...and please don't make me go there
though there be a god or not... (so hope-less- melancholy, so mortal)
...they whisper still, the ancient stones
the blunted mountains weep... (so hope-full-immortal/eternal)
beautiful melancholy blooded with eternal awareness
some are truly living a "wounded dawn",
and it is a melancholic time
but there is beauty in our vulnerability
and that "wounded dawn"...
that is where Leonard loved to hang out.
