Cranny
Is this where you come to hide
from wind-scattered fields and stalk-
speared wrens snaggled in ditches,
from bleak parishes, beer-glass
broken streets where the disease
of the bottom line is never diagnosed?
Is it to these high-arched echoey places
that we have built and to these brass-beaten
tabernacles you have arraigned and
detained yourself, to escape our doubts
and deceits, our despair and decline?

Hello. I retired from this forum a few ages back when Leonard stopped touring. I hope he is well. Today I popped in for the very first time since the very last time and saw your lovely poem exactly 47 years, 8 months and 22 days since my own granny died! That is not just a numbery coincidence ! My own granny also drank beer and the pub was also where she came to hide! The similarities are freaky. Perhaps they knew each other?
Here’s to Granny Jimmy and Granny Solong. Eternal they live, with their craggy faces and brass-beaten testicles.
Thank you for sharing. This forum continues to thrive - a busy home for fine writing. It would be nice if we also had a top drawer. Maybe one day that will happen!

Your Cranny was very lucky to have you as a vessel of remembrances!
We all need our nook to hideaway from the vicissitudes of this mortal coil and tar-sticky roads.
Thanks Song for the comments.
May you continue to explore the nooks and crannies of the Forum for those little gems that trickle through your fancy!

You, Jimmy, are what my old mum would have called a "mensch". I hope you accept this high compliment gracefully. It is made with all respect

Grace, Gratitude, Granny, Geoffrey, G-string. If only I could find a connection between these stuff. But I can’t so I bid you good night.

That's an easy one, Solong: Grace is Geoffrey's Granny, and being a giddy old girl, she often likes to gallivant around in a G-string, and it is with great Gratitude that, at least thus far, Geoffrey has chosen not to post a photo of his old gran wearing such ghastly garb (because, we wouldn't want to see granny's fanny -- which incidentally has different meanings in N. American versus British slang!).

In the far Northern part of America, like Norway for example, Fanny means no more than “bottom” , the area where the straying fingers of the osteopathtarach may, almost legitimately, treat, and not to be confused with Fanny as in the “Curt”, (check spelling ED. I don’t want to make a cunt of myself with a typo), and we are grateful for this distinction obliquely alluded to by LisaLCFanny.
I joined this forum over 3 months ago now and it is a privilege to be part of the current longest thread.

Amongst other distinctions... From poetry to puerility -- yin and yang, perhaps? (not to be confused with the North American slang "ying-yang")

The World’s best music video. Look very carefully and you will see that Leonard is not there in the opening scenes, nor the later ones

Hello everyone, and Boy do I mean literally EVERYONE. I am honoured to be one of the earliest investors in the thread which has now officially become the most talked about, and thought about, thread in LC Fan threadom history. It puts ALL other threads on this forum literally into SAD OBSCURITY.
It contains the spark which other threads totally lacking do. Literally!
So this Christmas please poop this thread into your shopping bag and literally steal it.
Well done, Jimmy!
